The sticky key could be very well a specific known problem of the earlier GrandFeel actions. There's a way to fix it even yourself. It has been discussed on this forum under the "GrandFeel clinic" topic: http://forum.pianoworld.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/2272103/Kawai_Grand_Feel_key_clinic.html

If it's something else, then I have no idea what.

The price seems reasonable and the fix might cost basically nothing.

People sometimes have problems with the Fatar made MP11 triple pedal. Kawai changed to their own design in the MP11SE and they are not interchangeable.

I have no experience of the MP11/MP11SE.

Check the Kawai grand feel clinic thread wink
TL;DR: likely can be fixed, possibly by yourself, but will take hours even if you know what you're doing.
At 500 AUD be suspicious for any concealed impact damage wink

Yes, if it just has a stuck key, very likely it can be fixed. Are there pictures?

I bought a new mp11 with shipping damage that made 3 keys stick for more than 3x that amount, fixed it myself in an hour.

No, I just saw that a ton of damaged MP11s and VPC-1s tend to buckle at the keyslip, which physically pushes against the keys and and prevents them from pivoting on the balance rail. I hammered out the keyslip and that's all it took. Of course, every instance of damage is unique, the one you're looking at could have bent pins, it could have damage to the keysticks, who knows. You gotta take a chance and be handy (or work with someone who is).

I am going to play it before buying, won't I be able to tell if it's broken?

It has wooden keysticks. Each has a balance rail pin and a front rail pin:

Can you tell what's wrong with a car from behind the steering wheel? Maybe, but more likely, you'll need to look under the hood to know for sure.

Im going to look at it at a church, so I am hoping they are honest, If the one sticky key is the only problem, is it easily fixable? What did you use to fix it?

You will have to determine why the key is sticky in order to know what needs to be fixed.

I'm sorry to say you probably have to open it up and look at the inner workings, and make a critical evaluation based on your knowledge/intuition of mechanical design. There isn't just a 1:1 ratio of things that go wrong and reasons for that happening, it could be any of dozens of reasons why a key can be sticky.

If you aren't comfortable talking a risk without determine the root cause or disability, or with evaluating it yourself, you might consider bringing someone along who is mechanically inclined and can help?

Micahjd:

From your responses to the helpful information Gombessa has provided to you, my guess is that this project is over your head. I'd shy away from it and stick to a fully warranted, fully functioning dp in your situation.
