Hello, I am very excited for my new digital piano purchase, but I am having a hard time picking between Kawai CN39 and Yamaha CSP150! Over the weekend I tested various digital pianos and these were my top picks. In summary, I loved the key action of the Kawai and this is the most important thing for me. However, I had SO much fun playing around with the csp smart pianist app. I never imaged the "extras" would be important to me at all because I primarily play classical music however, I did not want to leave the piano and kept thinking about my enjoyment. I feel as if I am choosing between something that sounds and feels nicer (to me) and something that is more fun.

Does anyone have any insight on these pianos? Or what would you pick?

My primary goals are: to play for myself/enjoyment, and teach primarily children (many with autism/different needs). I would love to eventually have a grand piano and keep the digital one in the studio. I have been playing for 24 years.

Thank you!

This is the crux of the matter. So you may already have sound advice from within.

Reading through your post I'd say go back to those two instruments a few times and focus on the essentials. Those are what truly makes the piano. From there, the optimal choice will become obvious. If it isn't already 🙂.

Cheers and happy decision making,

HZ

What features of it especially?

Kawai has an app/several apps too, but they are not mandatory to access all the features of the CN39.

The CN39 is simply a piano, the CSP150 is a piano arranger. Then the CN39 is cheaper and is more likely comparable with a CLP725. (But the CN39 has rythms).

You can use the CLP725 or the CN39 with iReal Pro if you want an accompaniment.

I guess it just comes down to do the "fun" features of the Yamaha outweigh the feel of the Kawai? To me I would go with the Kawai any day of the week if it feels better, and you said the action is the most important thing for you

Well for example the sensor board being on top is more resistant to water damage than sensor board on bottom.

Kawai GF, GF2, GF3, GFC, Casio Hybrid, etc.

Thank you all! I guess I might have to go play them again now that I know what my 2 options are.
The piano will be most likely in a living room or room that serves as a studio, probably a safe distance from water or rain (I live in southern california). I will be sure to update you all when I make a decision!
