There is a whole industry dedicated to furniture scratch repair because kids will be kids and pets will be pets. Adorable but destructive. 😊 My coffee table in the den looks like it’s been through the war. I can in a couple of hours make it presentable and now can hide most any scratch on a black piano. Check your library and DIY store.

Congratulations on getting the U1 home, Colin! Here in the US they say that possession is 9/10ths of the law, whoever "they" are/is. smile

Also, a bird piano in hand is better than two in the bush. smile

And, I'm glad the blemishes look better. But when you play the piano, the blemishes will likely disappear altogether, or at least diminish somewhat as you think about/listen to your music!

I'm happy for you! smile

Congratulations on your U1!
I am sure you are going to love this piano. You will forget all about the blemish. Its good that the dealer has partially removed the mark. The Sauter does not sound as though it is in good condition at all. So it's good that you found the piano you love.Best wishes.

This is it. Not easy to get a good photo as it easily reflects. Very pleased with it, particularly the bass - not a strong point with the Roland LX706. And I find that I am able to spend longer sessions on it than on the digital. Maybe it's because of the lack of headphones or just that, even some many years with digitals I am more comfortable playing acoustics as I used to when I was young. One slight problem is that I have had to order caster cups as I need a little more knee room. Should be arriving later today.

The Yamaha U1 is beautiful, Colin, and it looks taller than 48" in the photo. I'm happy for you, my friend!

Enjoy! smile

Thank you and ebonyk. It's the perspective that makes it look taller. Getting back into it and coming back to playing acoustics 'regularly' after playing digitals for the past 20 years, yes they are quite different 'animals'. Just need to get the caster cups in place - need two strong neighbours - and a tuning in about 6 weeks time. All the manhandling and the journey over the horrid speed bumps do not do pianos any favours.

It looks wonderful! Is the β€˜blemish’ the little scratch in front of the keyboard? I don’t see anything else in the photo, and I had to look hard before I could find it.
I have also been playing a lot more since I got my acoustic piano. I think it’s just that I enjoy the experience much more. I usually play in the evenings after work. With the digital, I’d play for a while and then join my dad in front of the tv for a while and do some knitting before bed. Now it’s hard to leave the piano! The knitting has been very slow!
I’m so glad you’re enjoying it!

Congratulations!. My very first acoustic, bought in February 2020, is a 1976 U3H and it is a wonderful instrument to play. You will for sure enjoy your U1!
