I may have fixed my Garritan CFX problem. I had a problem with Garritan CFX from the very beginning. Its damper pedal response was seriously flawed.

My piano damper goes in steps: 0, 24, 40, 56, 72, 88, 104, 127.
But the CFX behaves as though it's seeing this: 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 127.

If you let off the pedal even a little bit the sound stops. I was dropping notes left and right. It was maddening.

CyberGene mentioned a fix for this way back when. It required modification to some files. I couldn't understand the instructions, so that was the end of my CFX usage. Until now ...

It occurred to me yesterday that I could use Bome's Midi Translator to create a damper pedal curve.
I created rules in Bome's Midi Translator that translate the pedal values:

input value ---> 0, 24, 40, 56, 72, 88, 104, 127
output value --> 0, 64, 127, 127, 127, 127, 127, 127

Yes, this basically kills half-pedaling. But full pedaling is now possible.

Mac, what version of CFX are you running? If you installed it from scratch and never updated it, it doesn't support half-pedaling or partial-pedaling, so you only get 0 or 127.

If you have any of the updates installed (from https://store.makemusic.com/Downloads/Default.aspx?p=1) then it should recognize your pedal values and allow for partial pedaling.

Well, it doesn't seem to have partial pedaling, and that's okay.
I was just troubled that any pedal value less than 127/full press was interpreted as 0/no pedal. That just won't do!

I'll have a look at that link to get update(s), if any are available.

Check this screen -- if you don't see the half-pedaling and partial-pedaling options, you need to update to the latest version:

OK, I see that it does have both re-pedal and partial pedal.

They were both turned off. But not anymore! Thanks.

I always wondered about the Garritan CFX comments about pedal trouble, as mine worked fine...so, is there not a problem with latest versions, or am I missing some subtle problems?

I'm with you, I really don't detect any problem with the pedal. But more than one person has noted that it behaves incorrectly (i.e., it has too short of a window with which to re-pedal and "recapture" notes), and Cybergene actually created a modified config file to fix the issue, which many users swear by.

But for the life of me, I can't tell there's any noticeable difference between how stock CFX works and the DP's internal sound engine (or acoustic). I just chalk it up to being a more advanced technique that I'm not trained to use.
