Dear All,

I have learned playing piano for one year now with my digital piano, and my piano teacher suggested me upgrading to an acoustic piano, an used one is fine. A few days ago, I was offered an used Everest steel back studio of 50-60 years old from my neighbor for 300 bucks (I have to move the piano myself). I played the piano myself yesterday, three keys lowered and did not come back to the normal positions. The sound are fine, and the touch of the keys are also fine. I was told that the piano had been used and tuned regularly before 2020. Would it be possible that any of you expert can give me some general advice regarding whether this used piano is likely to be repairable? I trust that the neighbor of mine is with good intention in his offer but I have no knowledge on piano repair at all. Thank you so much for your time and any advice in advance!

I think it is a very good idea to move on to an acoustic piano. You will enjoy it so much.

I do not know what prices are like in your area, or much about Everest upright pianos, but I think $300 sounds a lot fo a 60 year old piano that evidently needs some work.

Do you mean Everett? Dynasonic console?

If so, that is actually generally a pretty decent instrument as long as it has not been beat to death. If you are in tbe US that's probably not a bad price. However, we generally recommend having a piano checked out by a pro ahead of time. Even thougn well made, there are plenty of things that COULD be wrong with it. Sticking keys is probably an easy fix.

Hard to tell without more info or pics.
