Hi everybody,

First post here smile

I´ve been using a keyboard with unweighted keys for the past two years and now I´m looking to upgrade to take my practice further as I feel this is a hobby I´m going to stick with. I´ve fallen in love with the look of the rosewood version of new Korg LP-380U.

Has anybody any experience with the Korg LP-380U and could tell me a bit about the key action? The key action is my main reason for uppgrading, so it would be nice to know if others like it, and that its good for practicing piano playing as opposed to just electronic keyboard playing.

It being a digital piano is a must for me as I live in an apartment with thin walls.

Check the threads on the C1 Air and G1 Air. The keybed is basically the same, I'd say almost certainly identical. They're all based on the recent RH3 generation.

Pianoteq + Korg C1.

I shall be "thankful" for this decent alternative to an upright piano. Hallelujah.

In a recent post someone said they had difficulty extracting dynamic play from the RH3, vs their Roland counterparts.

I can testify to that, however it comes down to the individual technique first, and the touch setting second. I myself find the Hard touch setting to be perfect.

It's a mature, good quality keybed that will certainly see you through a few good years of practice. It made my Casio Cdp feel like a cheap toy, it's way nicer than the Yamaha P125, Korg B2, and the Casio's in the same price range.

Have you looked into Kawai around the same price range?

Thanks for the feedback OU812! Yes, research got a bit easier once i understood that the RH3 keybed is used in many other products. My impression so far is that it would be a massive upgrade from my present unweighted keyboard, one that will probobly last me for years as I´m just a hobby pianist.

I have not Johnny English. I take it you Think it´s worth checking out? smile

I have the LP-380U. I upgraded from Semi Weighted Keyboard like you.

The keybed is amazing. You can play very softly and very loudly with ease.
It works really well with Pianoteq.

Built in sounds are a bit disappointing. Also, although the speakers are really good, because of their placement under the keyboard, they sound a bit off.

Thank you for your feedback karoloydi. Wonderful to hear from somebody who has the piano.

Good information about the speakers as well! though it´s certanly not a deal breaker for me and my planned uses for it.

Sure. In person and preferably side-by-side, of course.
