After a 40+ year lay off from the piano, I’ve been back at it for 1 year. I’ve been taking lessons and my teacher has greatly improved my understanding of ‘how’ to play the pieces I’m working on......slightly more complicated then I thought. I’m 99% on two Chopin Nocturnes (Op 9 No 2 of course) and I started Op 9 No 1 a few days ago....beautiful! My teacher has assigned a Mozart Sonata and when I asked him why Mozart, he said he takes a lot of ‘precision and you can’t hide mistakes’.

And yes, I’m having FUN!!!

Wonderful. It should be a lot of fun. Good for you. I remember my teacher in college said the same about assigning me Bach pieces.

While the pandemic lockdown is keeping people at home, many are rediscovering the joy of music and getting into it for stress relief.

Looks like you’re making progress. I’m working on a piece arranged from an orchestral score.Took 2 weeks of work to make it playable and enjoying every minute of it. Having fun is most important.

I’m working on Bach pieces myself. Good luck...

The Nocturnes are so.......full of passion and emotionally charged.....an absolute joy to learn and play. His habit of mixing the number of notes, right hand vs left, is always a fun challenge. I wanted to tackle 27 2, but my teacher said there were a few technical ‘difficulties’ that might be beyond me.....at the moment. Guess I’ll start it in a few months.
