... the publisher doesn't include measure numbers. Grrr.

...an accidental is added and you can't tell which of two adjacent notes, (a second), it refers to. It doesn't sound right either way so you end up looking through all your back-up scores and IMSLP and listen to YouTube to figure it out. Grrr, grrr.

I've seen missing accidentals too, then I picture in my head the sheetmusic editor in a guillotine as the local statesman reads out his crimes.

Are there any documentaries on how sheetmusic is made, so we know who these criminals are? grin

My childhood teacher always had me write in the measure numbers when we started working on the piece. It seemed like busy-work to me back then, but I came to realize how useful the measure numbers are, especially when I started playing with other people!

I wish all publishers included measure numbers.

Well, I can't say I 'hate' it, but it's a phenomenon I found myself experiencing (no doubt due to my very limited musical ability :-).

For the same piece of music (usually quite well known), I can unconsciously have two images of the music stuck in my mind, one from the music I heard played by the pros, the way it should sound, one from what I can make of it myself. It can be very different in a strange way and difficult to bridge until I realize what's happening. Sometimes I can fix it, sometimes I can't.
