In a private message a kind member of the forum mentioned the "string termination" solution:

"The termination at the end of the string struck by the hammer must function as a pivot termination. Pivot termination allows the wire to be displaced on each side of the termination. This reduces the limits wire stiffness imposes on the ability of the hammer to displace the string, thus allowing for more dynamic range."

How do I check if there is a string termination on a Kawai GL-30? The suggestion is:

"You can remove the action and take a small mirror and light to inspect the V-bar on the piano you are purchasing to see if it is nicely V-shaped and not an obviously rounded V that is the general practice."

What do you think? It also seems that Kawai adopted this solution for her pianos (all the new series?).

Unfortunately, I am not an expert and I doubt I will be able to check for the string termination on my GL-30. Does anyone know if this solution has been adpoted by Kawai for the GL series?

Don't worry Kawai know how to make pianos.

To reassure yourself read the Need Help from Ed McMorrow thread in the Tech Forum 10/19.

Hi, Withindale,

I searched in the tech forum as you suggested, hiwever, I did not find it. Can you give me more details? Perhaps the title of the post?

The title is correct and the date is 7/10/19. I read that as 7 October 2019 but it means 10 July 2019!

Post number is #2868021. Keep reading until you come to EM"s comments about Kawai v bar.

Dear Withindale,

Thank you again for your kindness, unfortunately, I am still not able to find the post you mentioned. I searched the Piano tuner technicians forum in the date you suggested: 07 July 2019. I found three posts and read them all ... no Ed McMorrow's post there ...

I do not know how to search through pist number

Hello Guido,

Sorry. I was posting from my phone.

Here is the link to the thread:
http://forum.pianoworld.com/ubbthre...cmorrow-or-anyone-about-capo-dastro.html

and the link to Ed's comment about Kawai:
http://forum.pianoworld.com/ubbthre...nyone-about-capo-dastro.html#Post2869345

I imagine Kawai used to have a rounded profile before.

I
