In a private message a member of the forum mentioned the "strings termination" solution:

"The termination at the end of the string struck by the hammer must function as a pivot termination. Pivot termination allows the wire to be displaced on each side of the termination. This reduces the limits wire stiffness imposes on the ability of the hammer to displace the string, thus allowing for more dynamic range."

What do you think? It also seems that Kawai adopted this solution for her pianos (all the series?)

Hiw do I chek if there is a string termination on a Kawai GL-30?
The suggestion is:

"You can remove the action and take a small mirror and light to inspect the V-bar on the piano you are purchasing to see if it is nicely V-shaped and not an obviously rounded V that is the general practice."

Unfortunately, I am not an expert and I doubt I will be able to check for the atrin termination on my GL-30. Dies anyone know about if this solution has been adpoted by Kawai for the GL serues?

If the Kawai piano is new, ask the sales representative to explain what specifications are expected on V-bars. He/she may need to call the distributor.

Hi Ed, I know you are an expert on this issue, I doubt that the sale representative will be available to spend his time on this, I am also not sure to be able to explain in Italian words the string termination issue. I posted the question because I hoped that more expert were interested in discussing the use of the V-shaped string.

Perhaps, do you have a photo that shows the V-shaped string?
