Greeting fellow Piano Players,

I am posting a (possible wishful thinking) request that I hope people will be able to help out.

I am about to receive my first digital piano (someday, as it’s been backordered since December, lol) and while I do have an used small acoustic piano, I’m dying to hook up the digital piano to a tablet/laptop to finally start learning how to play songs that I’ve always wanted to play. Currently my experience is late beginner (I am able to play basic songs and have the ability to read notes) and lately it’s been difficult to play since Covid and the children are home and go to bed early, which makes playing an impossible task.

The request I am asking is someone to guide me into (youtube videos???) or the best tutorials for the list of songs I have in the spreadsheet created. In the list, some videos have those animated bars that drop and light up the keys, some have notes only, others are made by people who do it by ear, which, I for one can not do it by ear. Other songs/videos have nothing for me to learn from but sheet music is too difficult to learn as well.

I have played some videos with the bars that drop but it makes me wonder if that (creator) did the song properly and correctly. I understand that everyone has their own taste in covering a song but If someone could direct me to a video that shows the person’s hands playing AND the notes (with sheet music as reading the notes will be important and will get better over time).

I envision this (spreadsheet) list to not only help me but to help those that want to learn a new song but not sure where to look. If you have a video and or are able to post a cover of a song, I would be happy to use that. If there is a song that you would like to add, please do so.

I don’t know if any of this makes sense as one could just simply say, "pick a video and go with it". However, I worry about developing bad habits if a song is not done properly.

Please feel free to make changes in the spreadsheet as I may have missed something when doing my research.

Any and all suggestions are and will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again.

P.S. I do not own the rights to these videos.

I think you will have a better chance of finding the help you want if you repost this in the Adult Beginners Forum or Pianist Corner Non-Classical.

Best regards,

Rooting for ya, the fact that you did homework and made a spreadsheet, that's the right spirit.

Learning many of these songs will be difficult visually for a beginner. For the sheetmusic look for the arrangements on musescore, you don't need the exact one, just one that sounds good to you. When you put it into full screen on the pc, you can screenshot the public songs and make pages from that.
