I think in clear cut cases you would be fine, but I don't think it is hard to think of scenario where it is not nonsense.
For example:
If I got into dispute with Kawai over differences in opinion on what is normal wear and tear or not during a warranty period and we were in a dispute over this. If Kawai during inspection realised that in the past I had replaced a screw myself do you think they would not consider closing down the claim as a case of a voided warranty.

No, I don't ... If I got into dispute with Kawai over differences in opinion on what is normal wear and tear or not during a warranty period and we were in a dispute over this. If Kawai during inspection realised that in the past I had replaced a screw myself do you think they would not consider closing down the claim as a case of a voided warranty. No one will argue that your screw ruined the piano, when the proper Kawai screw would not have. Stop worrying about such things.

The warranty has not specified whether the piano is damaged or not, just that any work can only be done by a Kawai certified technician. So arguing whether the screw ruined the piano or not is irrelevant. Honestly if manufactures want consumers to not worry about these things they should write their warranties differently, but they choose not to. That is an active choice on their part.

It says that Kawai will repair or replace the piano. Presumably they'll use their own choice of technician. But there is no mention of a voided warranty resulting from the owner's use of his own screw. And, so long as the piano has not been damaged by such an evil screw, the manufacturer has no claim to void the warranty.
So what's the problem?

2. Exclusions This warranty does not apply:
- to a Kawai piano that has been modified or repaired by anyone who is not authorised to carry out such modification or repairs by Kawai UK

Who gets to define “modified”. Who gets to define “repaired”. I can’t know that.

The problem is that you guys keep arguing until you post so many messages to make the server crash!! And even if the admins bring it back the real information will buried in so much senseless arguing that everybody will prefer to go searching for one needle in 100,000 haystacks rather than reading this thread

Also apologies for being tedious arguing guy, endemic on the inter webs.

I rest my freaking case!

Hi there,
Good news from Santiago!!! I assembled my NV10 today and it is alright!!! I played for a while and took my remote piano lessons and it was fine!!! The action, the big promise, is awesome, as expected. The sound is OK for me. Action is too much better than AG N2. Sound is better than N2 anyway. I am very happy with my purchase. I really don't hear any hissing or buzzing so far, just natural "noises" of a real instrument. No issues so far!

You have a nice piano room. The NV10 looks gorgeous!
Nice bench BTW! Is this the original bench from NV10?

you placed it against a wall, i did too. and have been trying to configure the sound to mimic a grand. closest i got was to compare it with Kawai SK6 grand.
i compared multiple times using Wall EQ off or on, and current conclusion is wall EQ needs to be on with bass unfortunately boosted to max +6. this achieved a more realistic bass / clarity than wall EQ off and bass minus any amount (still muddy overall tone, subsonic a little excessive). even at +6 bass with wall EQ on, it still lacks a little bit of subsonic but i'll live with this gap for now.
had to also suppress mid-range somewhat to improve clarity despite wall EQ already enhancing clarity: mid-low 315Hz -2, mid-high 800Hz -2. this hoping to spread an even -2 across the overall range of about 200hz to 1.6khz.
at this config, a volume knob at 12.30pm position seems to be the sweet spot. mf dynamics yielded about 77-78dB in mid register, 81-82db in low register. other dynamics and registers more or less approximate acoustic piano output.
and the final touch was - a group of 3 keys somewhere around G4-A4 region had maybe some standing wave or resonance that had their higher harmonics overly prominent. used the individual key editor to balance them, the worst key had to be toned down maximum.
think most forummers here shun wall EQ. i did use it without wall EQ for the longest time, but as i tinkered with it, trying to compare against an acoustic grand the 1) clarity 2) soundstage (acoustics tend to be higher because NV10 non-EQed has strong bass pulling the stage low, and this may lead critics to say NV10 sound output is its weak point), 3) appropriate subsonic balance, i've swung towards starting with wall EQ as a more effective base from which to configure as described above.
would love to hear the findings of anyone who has done acoustic grand comparisons! (other grands i assessed along the way to this conclusion were SK3, yamaha GB, C1, C3, Bosendorfer mid-range model).

Congrats rmnd (your news seems to have been lost in the warranty discussion?).
And congrats frosas!
Great that everything worked out well for you two and that you are satisfied and happy with the piano. Welcome to the club!

A small anecdote:
Note to self: If something rattles in your piano when you press certain keys, it is not always a screw loose inside. Sometimes it is just a pencil that vanished mysteriously during your 9 y/o‘s Skype piano lesson (and you had to scramble to quickly find a new one) that made its way behind the fallboard and now makes a merry dance on the key sticks. So next time, look behind the fallboard first, before you take out the gazillion screws of the back panel...
