I hope both both your heart and the eczema continue to improve, Philip.

I can't come up with any one, big stressor that's hit me in the past month or so, but at the same time, the past year has been a bit of he l l on wheels due to the pandemic.

I've read about this, neurodermatitis. It's psychosomatic. I recall it had something to do with damage between mother child bond referring to childhood occurrence. Certainly something like this can occur in adults as well.

There aren't very good studies though, it could've just as easily been malnutrition.

We don't know, next time you get your yearly bloodwork, ask for a vitamin B12 and vitamin D test. The doctor can just order it and add it to your panel. He might have other panels too. They may need extra blood, but it seems you've got plenty of that going by your confidence.

Not to be snide but... why are you trying to diagnose people online? Do you have a medical background? I mean, I went to med school but I wouldn't immediately suggest someone has neurodermatitis or malnutrition based on the sole fact that they have an eczema, and based on the scarce information given by PhilipInChina I can't say there's much more advice you could give than to go talk to a dermatologist. But even that seems a bit unwarranted, as we don't know anything about their medical history and they didn't specifically ask for medical advice.

Yearly bloodwork?

The last time I lost a day of work due to illness or even saw a doctor was some time in the 1990s.

I have psoriasis, and when I'm under stress it gets a lot worse. Some people find stress can make eczema worse too. I've found that using a tiny bit of one particular moisturiser works well for me, although dermatologists say most of these products rely on hype and pseudoscience. I have a problem finding something that doesn't make me feel like my face is on fire, so I don't mind paying for something that feels good.

Update. My hand is clearing up. Most of the skin peeled off on the affected area, but no new outbreaks. Keeping fingers crossed (now that I can cross them again smile ). I was able to play, sort of, at my lesson today. My pinkie wasn't full strength, but I could play.

I agree, stress really doesn't help at all. Long term diet changes however can, at least for me.

This very simple allo vera cream was as good as anything I found for topical treatments (which I tried to avoid) and is not expensive, growing your own allo is even better.

Excellent, I am pleased for Stubbie. I will keep my fingers crossed for you that it continues to clear up.
