We have two Jansen benches. One came with the purchase of our NY A, from the Steinway Gallery, and thus the knob on the bench has the Steinway logo. The other one came from purchase of the rebuilt Hamburg B from PianoCraft, and while the style of the bench is exactly the same as the other one, it does not have the Steinway logo.

Is there a place that actually supplies this kind of bench knob decal/sticker? It looks like what this page (out-of-stock) shows:

Jansen bench with Steinway logo

I know this is pretty vain. I am just wondering whether I can make these two benches look exactly the same.

BTW seeing another thread about Jansen benches, and I have had this question for a long time: I know several places sell Jansen benches, but the description of "jansenpianobenches.com" is somewhat confusing to me. The name of the website looks like straight from Jansen, but it appears that they are a dealer instead. Are they a factory-direct shop, or does Jansen even sell directly?

I thought you were going to ask how to improve your reflection in the music desk.

Why not ask Piano Craft about the logo?

FWIW:

The Jansen Artist bench that came with my Estonia has "Laul Estonia" on the adjustment nobs; Dr. Indrek Laul is the owner of the Estonia Piano Company. That is also the name on the plate of the newer Estonia pianos: "Laul Estonia," but the fallboard reads simply "Estonia."

I presume that piano manufacturers can order Jansen benches with their logo on the adjustment knobs.

Regards,

Piano rebuilders have to be fluent in sources of decals, especially now that Steinway keeps threatening to sue them for using one. PianoCraft would be a logical place to inquire.
It might make even more sense not to have identical logos, of course, so you can tell them apart. Perhaps put hamburgers on the second piano bench's knobs?

Regards,

My Jansen bench just has “Estonia” with a small decal on the adjustment knobs. To be completely truthful I was excited to finally get a genuine Jansen bench and could really care less about the Estonia brand on the knobs.

I did hear about the curfuffle Steinway was stirring up about using their decal on Steinwas rebuilds so a Steinway decal might be more difficult to obtain.

Heck, with Windows Paint and a good printer you could custom make your own decals for the Jensen benches. Be sure not to use trademarked logos.

I should probably do a J&J logo.

@Davdoc - it's worth a call to Paul Jansen and Sons at (920) 231-5433. They might sell you the knobs you want.
To my knowledge there are 2 basic types of knobs that Jansen supplies:
- with decals. The surface of the knob is flat to accommodate the decals
- without decals. The surface of the knob is has 3 concentric raised ridges.

The knobs also come in different colors.
When I sent my brown Steinway bench to them to reupholster, it came back, in the proper shade of brown, with two new knobs complete with shiny new Steinway decals.

This appears to be the manufacturers website for Jansen Benches and Supplies.

They may be prohibited from selling those knobs though by the terms of their contract with Steinway.

The knobs do not carry decals, they are black aluminum plates that are etched with the logo.
Ask your piano tuner to order you a set of knobs direct from Jansen. A piano dealer or technician can order parts from Jansen.

They do not sell at retail, they only work at wholesale. The website is https://pljansen.com/
