Some people just want to try it out and see if they like it before a person-to-person relationship.
PM is a nice alternative, and you can move at your own speed instead of having to do certain things by the next lesson.

You are absolutely right, but sometimes there is no piano teacher available or you cannot afford it ... and then PM is the best alternative in my humble opinion.

I downloaded the trial yesterday. Am I missing something or is the practice structure up to you to create, unlike a method book where the next thing you're to learn is on the next page? There appears to be a lot of great info and instruction but it appears to be laid out in a DIY manner.

It's simple, you start in level 1 technique and then you do level 1 method. Try to keep both at the same height. You can also choose something from the library, you can also choose your level there.

Hit a bit of a milestone today - now at 50% on both technique and method. After a few months of almost no playing this is a great way to get back into structured practice - what a wonderful piece of software this is.

Wow, tons of information in there! flowkey has some but if I was only using flowkey for theory, it ends pretty quickly. It's great for songs but the amount of theory and sight-reading doesn't even come close to PM.

Hi, I had to get online and just say that my mind is blown! Today I reached Arabia...and reading all the earlier posts regarding this piece I was kind of scared how it will go.
I am happy to anounce it took me only 3 tries to get it in slow mode and 6 in fast. I don't know how, I tought it will be a blocker piece for quite some time but it went so smoothly that I am still in shock.
I just had to post this because I can't even believe it. I consider myself lucky after this

It's "How Far I'll Go" from the Moana soundtrack. I don't think it's coincidence, there's a few pieces in PM that have bits that sounds note and rhythm like popular songs, with just enough modification to not be copyright violations.

Yeah, that was a sticking point for a few days (I won't move on until I 100% something). For the B section, working just the right hand to get it up to tempo was what finally got me over.

Heart and Soul in 5A is a real test of endurance.

I can play it at speed for a while but then my mind starts to panic and it all goes to pieces.

It’s great practice for playing without looking at your hands as you stop looking at them without even realising.
