Hi Folks,

I am interested what real instruments where taken as a reference for the instruments in my CA99.

To avoid coming in to a copyright issue I would call this thread " sounds like".

Is there a list already available.

For example I am looking for an electric grand sounding close to my old Roland RD1000.

For the organs some of them are clear :-).

Thx in advance.

Galuwen.

You need a voice called 'SA Piano' or something similar. Dexibell uses an RD-1000 sample. Nord uses one. Neither are much good. Nothing will be as good as the RD-1000 because that was a modelled sound and merely using a sample of a modelled sound where they'll use a maximum of what, maybe three dynamic layers (four if you're lucky) just won't cut it.

The best modern emulation is on the RD-2000 but I'd bet that's a sample rather than using real SA Synthesis.

Kawai certainly can't help you. Your best bet would be to get yourself an MKS-20 module, which is the rack version of the RD-1000.

When you use the term 'electric grand' that is usually applied to the Yamaha CP-80 type sounds, which to my ears are not really close to the old RD. The Kawai probably has a CP sample in it. If so, what do you think of it?

My Roland MC101 groovebox has a RD-1000 sound on it. Not sure how it compares to the original hardware, but Roland says that they have been true to the original equipment with the "zencore". Maybe it's just marketing.

I bet Roland Cloud also has this sound - you probably can try it for free.

I hoped that somebody could share his opinion about reference instruments of CA99 in general :-).

I think I have heard that some historical instrument samples where recorded at Kremsegg in Austria. .
