I recorded today some of the pieces from my method book that I enjoyed the most so far! 😍

1. Morning (Peer Gynt suite no. 1)
2. When the Saints go Marching in
3. Musette (from the notebook of Anna Magdalena Bach)
4. Half-time Band

I'm very happy I joined this challenge. This 100% got me out of my comfort zone, recording (first time ever), and learning so much. Here are my first three. I'm excited to see how far I get this year and now have some material to compare with.

My takeaways so far:

1. Recording is very challenging and a skill I plan to continue to use and develop.
2. Hearing myself playing helped enormously. While these are still not polished the initial recording of them was not as good. Simply, listening helped correct so many things.
3. Pieces still take longer than I think they will.
4. Don't stress over the pieces or try to perfect them, be happy with what you accomplish.

Yes, I had the song on my cell phone, so I connected with the Bluetooth function of the keyboard and played it through the keyboard's speaker system. Then I was able to play along with it, sort of like a kareoke machine. The only tricky part was due to the fact that Recording doesn't actually start after you hit the REC button until you play the first note. Thus the opening chord to trigger recording before I actually started playing my part.

Great job Sebs! I agree with you 100%. For me, it is also about improving in my recording skills, being able to focus on the music while doing it. Just as you say, it is incredible what one can tell about his own playing from a recording, and not only musically speaking, but also in terms of posture, if your hands stay relaxed, etc.
Your nord looks cool! Does it come with those matching speakers?


Cool stuff! The new PX-S models have cool features. I remember using one function that removes the voice from the songs you play over bluetooth, so you can have only the instrumentation. It does not work perfectly if the track has several layered vocals or too much autotune, but it was fun to play with it.

Thanks! The speakers do not come with it. Nothing comes with it not even the sheet music stand I still love all Nord products, always have.

Thank you AndresVel and Sebs for your understanding of how hard it can be to declare a piece finished. It helps to know I'm not alone in this madness!

Again, piece no2 should have been "done" many days ago, but as I was about to move on, I noticed a different way of doing things and decided to give it some extra time. I'm really enjoying how this challenge is making me push pieces that little bit further, and hopefully is meaning that I'm actually learning.
