No biggie at all - but next time you talk to Phil you should let him know. smile

No, I don't think so. I think the most important thing is your piano tech's assessment.

When I look in the mirror every morning, I say to myself, a few years older? No biggie... smile

Haven't read all the replies.....
maybe something like this has been said?

I got a small Kawai grand (forgot the model number; it's about 5'1" -- maybe GE-20?) for a place where I knew that the climate control couldn't be real good.
A big part of the reason I picked a Kawai was that I thought it would be one of the better makes to have in such a place.

And, 13 years later, it has been amazingly marvelous. It stays incredibly good, with minimal attention.

To let you know how good: My main piano (elsewhere) is a Steinway B. The Kawai hardly feels like any compromise from that.

(OK, no jokes about how lousy that Steinway must be....) ha

Congratulations!

Think about this, relative to your first impulse buy. On that one, you were paying probably 3 - 4 k too much. That, plus some depreciation if you were to find yourself in a position where you needed to sell ... you could almost give this one away and break "even" relative to that! Of course, this will have have residual value if/when you want to sell it, so you don't need to give it away, but whatever it is you'd come out ahead financially.

Obviously, it's not all about money. You want a nice piano. And I hope you're happy with this one. But it's also good that you've ended up making a much better purchase.

Thanks Retsacnal. I learned a lot more about pianos themselves from this process too. Nice to feel that I have not overcommitted financially, which I definitely felt when 1) I didnt do any research 2) Paid more than most would. smile

Gee, I don’t think I’ve commented before because I I know absolutely nothing about the Weinbach piano. It sounds like you’re thrilled and excited for your new piano and got great advice from our regular resident experts. All I can say is congratulations on your new piano and please post pictures after delivery. We love looking at people’s pianos. Best Wishes!

Pictures and Audio as requested.

First time using my audio setup, looks like there's some distortion so please forgive.

Thanks again guys, could not be more happy with the instrument smile

Wow - it looks WONDERFUL in the space and even though the recording is a little rough, the tone of the piano sounds warm and mellow.

CONGRATULATIONS - I'm very happy for you thumb

Thanks for hanging in there with us over the past couple of weeks.

Best of luck to you (and your supportive parents). grin
