For the record, even today, Avid Pro Tools does not work perfectly with OS Catalina.
That indicates that Apple may have some issues to sort.

I finally got my CFX upgrade working. It sounds wonderful. I did not anticipate such great improvement over the Lite version..
For any of you in doubt about whether the brightness of Lite is mitigated in the full version. The mixing in of the ambient mics reduces the ratio of ping to tone by a great amount. And, the tones are beautiful through the ambient mics.
If I didn’t know better, I would have guessed that the full and lite versions were not in any way related. The full version is very well worth the price.

I completely agree that they sound more like different pianos altogether than like a full and lite version of the same instrument. Which is also why I'm not entirely convinced that I like the in-your-face resonance of the full version better than the Lite version and its considerably crisper sound so far...

Calavera - try making some adjustments; several people here on PW posted their settings and there are a wide variety.
For example, my current settings on full/classic/default are similar to those of several people here:
- Drop ambient mic gain say 5db - turn off the limit button (so not illuminated) as it does not work properly - Boost dynamic range to 80% or more - Stereo Image to Performer

I gave those settings a try, but something feels a bit off to me when the ambient mic's volume is turned down.I find the sound a bit dull, and more unnatural than the results I get from the default settings. In the end, the default settings (with the stereo image set to performer of course) seem more likely to grow on me. My practice session yesterday was enjoyable enough, and the VST lends itself extremely well to some pieces I'm learning.

Sorry to bump this thread but I've just purchased both CFX Lite and the full upgrade from Proaudiostar (using their Black Friday code I managed to get them both for $111). However, although I've received an email from Proaudiostar confirming my order as well as a receipt of payment from Paypal, I can't see any links to download the software. Does anyone know what I need to do next? Do they send the links in a separate email?
Thanks for your help.

Yes, for some reason it's cheaper to buy the Lite version + full upgrade than buying the full version by itself. Proaudiostar also have a 20% off code on their website so total cost was $111 which works out as £87. All I need are the download links now! I sent them a message yesterday but have heard nothing back yet. It was quite late though so maybe I'll hear from them on Monday.

I see Sweetwater has the full version for $159US. Not a bad price.
Did someone say we need to stop comparing Digitals to Acoustics?

I see Sweetwater has the full version for $159US. Not a bad price. A bit cheaper (139USD) if you buy the lite+upgrade. Did it today. But... If running on a fresh Mac with OSX 10.15 you may encounter issues with the installer. I had a hard time installing the Lite version. It seems it is a common issue that the installer may freeze at some random point when copying/decompressing the samples on OSX Catalina. After retry who knows which number, I 've managed to finish the installation procedure, to find out that something was missing from the Aria player. Installed Aria player and then the CFX lite version required reinstall. It froze again, so I stopped it, but since the samples were there from the previous installation attempt it worked fine. For the sake of my mental health, the CFX Grand installation after about 30-40 minutes completed without issues. Listening to some midi files through it and al I can say is that the sound is superb. Waiting for tonight to test with my midi keyboard. So for 139USD, not a bad price at all!

if you like the garritian cfx, the thing i notice with garritian cfx ( i have the lite), especially when playing with external speakers, it sounds little thin, like as if it is further away... the pianoteq sound and i suspect synthogy ivory pianos, sound much more thick

Per my earlier post, I think the FULL Garritan CFX is so much better than CFX Lite that I would not, without prior knowledge, have ever guessed that they are related. With the discounts mentioned in the preceding posts, now might be the time to pick up Garritan CFX full version.
Though Lite is very playable, Garritan CFX Lite is NOT a good iindicator of what Garritan CFX full can sound like.

Thanks for the link! I picked up both for the $111 price. Did you get yours from Proaudiostar? Can I ask how long it took from submitting your order to receiving the links to download the software as I ordered at the weekend and am still waiting for mine. Thanks.

Yes, i got it from ProAudioStar. Mine only took less than a minute to get the d/l links on the web page after submitting the order. I also received the links by email about 5 minutes later.

Ah thanks MusicalDudeist. I did manage to get through to them just now and it looks like they've been having a few issues sending out the software codes but they are working on getting them sent out. Thanks!

I recently got the full and honestly I don't find a big difference between the full and the compact, but maybe the compact is still better than the lite...
