Hi,

I'm a newcomer to this forum and trying to get a new digital keyboard.
I played the piano for 8 years, didn't play for another 7 years or so, and now I forgot a lot....

I didn't think about buying a piano because I'm a poor uni student, but my grandmother gave me some money recently!

Excited, and after weeks of research, I decided to get a Kawai es110!

The problem starts now:

I can't find the Kawai es110 ANYWHERE!!!!
My school is in southern California and I sometimes go up to northern California.
I've been looking everywhere online and offline but can't find it.

Is this because there's a new line of ES that came out recently? Or because Kawai has new CA pianos?

I am confused and very frustrated frown to the point where I might just get a Yamaha 125...

Thanks for reading my complaint frown

I guess the ES110 is, at many places, not in stock anymore due to the pandemic (e.g. vendors unable to provide parts for manufacturing, at the same time a rise in digital piano sales, etc.). According to Kawai James, a Kawai employee who's a member of this great forum, the new model ES520, as well as, of course, the ES920, is not a replacement, but rather an addition to Kawai's ES line (see here). So you might have to be patient, JannaWind – or, as you wrote, buy another model. (However, availability might be an issue there as well.)

Hi Mickey!
Yeah... I wish they at least had an estimate so I know how long the wait will be. frown
The Yamaha seems to be in stock in a lot of places, so that's good

Thank you for the reply!

When you get to the store to try them out, play beethoven's rondo e capriccio (lost penny) on it a few times, and check for fatigue. If you can play it 3x in a row and it feels about what you're used to, then the action is suitable, if you feel like your arms are going to break off. Then you aught to look for a lighter action.

Hi JannaWind,

Many/most popular digital pianos are on backorder until Nov/Dec and many of the first units that come in will have already been spoken for. This is a big purchase for you so be patient and make sure you buy the one you really want.

Where are you in SoCal? If you'd like, I'll check with my authorized Kawai dealer for you. They are about 45 minutes east of LA.

Hi Jeffcat!

This is really good advice! I'll do that with the pianos I can find

I go to school in San Diego but my friend's from LA so I might be able to work it out.
Thank you!

I just moved from San Diego to Redlands 2 years ago.

I'll email to ask and let you know.

Have you checked with any of the online stores? I'm sure most are out but some of them may have one or two left.

I've searched through the places I could find online, but all of them seemed to be out of stock frown

Hello Janna,

Portable pianos are in high demand, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

I would contact Kawai America directly for advice regarding when they expect to receive their next shipment of ES110 instruments, then place an order with your preferred retailer in order to be added to the waiting list.

Best of luck.

Kind regards,
James

Hi Janna. I was able to locate a brand new in box ES110 for you (it's the only one left). Most stores aren't discounting due to low supplies but I'm trying to see if I can help save you some money.

Hi Janna,

I don't think the model is extinct, it's just in very limited supply. One brick and mortar dealer in Georgia I checked had one, the other one didn't.

This can also be quite indicative that a person is playing with poor posture and technique, not just that the action is suitable. I could play that one time with a poor technical approach on ANY piano and make myself tired if I wanted to...
