Hi Swiss Miss!
I have some back reporting to submit. April 17 through May 1ST Too much practise resulted in a mild case of musicians focal dystopia. It's a real thing.... I blame it on Ravel, haha.
Fortunately, it did get much better only I still have to cut back on practise time.
And a trip recently June 20th to 23rd, first time out since New Year, up to Lake Louise for our 47th anniversary. Got piano withdrawal symptoms but there's an easy cure for that now I'm back home😁

Lucubrate - I will add July 19-22 to your excused list.

Palmpirate - I will add April 17-May 1, and June 20-23 to your excused list. Is focal dystopia the same as Focal Distonia? That is scary. Congratulations on 47 years of marriage!

SwissMS-- yes - I must have been suffering from post-apocalyptic shock! Sometimes I feel the keys are purposely making me suffer..... There's a lot of writing about 'musicians dystonia' caused by unnatural use of the fingers with highly repetitive actions that alter the map in the brain cells associated with that motor functioning If realized, little cure, just stop and hope there is enough plasticity in the relevant cells to adjust appropriately. It is not necessary painful and very specific to the action done.So it can be reversible and may be there are treatments that can help that happen. It has affected many famous pianists. I read about it first when listening to an interview with Leon Fleisher and he's playing again since it happened to him.

Please excuse me for July 27-August 11.

I was traveling due to a family emergency. Horrible time to travel, bad situation.
Even if there was a piano, I would not have had the mental energy to play it.

Thankfully, we’re all home, safe and healthy.

I'm here to report a missed day on 8 Aug - I was getting ready to go away and just never made it to the piano. But I didn't leave home until the evening so it's not an excused day!
Then 9-14 Aug I was away with no piano access, so please mark me as excused for those days.

The worst thing is not the missed day, it's that I also didn't manage to make my submission for the quarterly recital! I had recorded it the day before but didn't manage to upload it.

Lucubrate - I will add Aug 14-15 to your excused list.

barbaram - I will put you back on the wagon for Aug 8. Getting ready for travel is always a challenge. I will add Aug 9-4 to your excused list. It is too bad you missed the recital. On the bright side- you are ready for the next one!

Please delete me from this list. I have not played every day (or even close to it) for a few months now. Hope to change that over the next few months though.

Monday I was saying to my wife how pleased I am that I haven't missed a single day since the one day in January.

Friday (21st Aug) I was very ill, stayed in bed most of the day, got up late afternoon, felt awful, went to bed early. I had meant to try to force myself just to do a couple of scales but was too ill.

Still not totally better now but managed to play both Saturday and today.

So far MOYD has been a useful stimulus for my playing, but not now.

Keep playing for me too!

Update: I didn't touch the keyboard for a couple of months, until a couple of days ago. Still adjusting my life.

It doesn't make sense for me to stay in the list this year, so please remove me.

Had a big push with work and slept 2 hours over 3 days (but since caught up... more or less). So I didn't play at all on 19, 25, and 26 August. I'm back on the wagon now with a bit of sleep in me.

I missed my piano session due to an overly enthusiastic Zoom session. When I thought about reporting it to MOYD, it occurred to me that I've had a couple of absences that I didn't report. Naughty me! So, my absences are:

14-15 July, 2020
13-14 August, 2020
31 August, 2020.

Thanks - and I promise to do better...

Patrick

I just joined here recently and came across the ABF. I'm very excited to be here. The MOYD is such an awesome idea! I'm brand new to playing the piano. I was actually just gifted a piano and I really want to learn how to play. I've purchased a beginners book and have been having a ton of fun with that.

I know I'm rather late to the game, but SwissMS, if you'll have me I'd love to participate in this years MOYD. The only thing is I already have something keeping me from playing from Saturday the 26th of September until Oct 3rd. I'm getting married and then will be immediately going on our honeymoon smile So unless I find a piano in the Berkshires to play, I'll have to be excused so soon lol.

Hope everyone is doing well,
- Eric
