Hi Keystring,
She doesn't really have a course, it's a live event on Zoom which a few people attend so I just watch it. I took some Feldenkraus classes and while I really enjoyed them, I couldn't remember the exercises when I got home and private lessons were expensive. By my teacher Andrew Kraus's suggestion I also do a little Qi Gong. My acupuncturist also recommended Qi Gong so go on YouTube and look up medical Qi Gong.
Genia uses yoga in her teaching and while I haven't experienced any results yet, I really like her attitude. She's kind and compassionate and is an incredible teacher, a world-renowned pianist and I can't recommend her book enough.
Andrew Kraus uses a book called "Piano Exercises for Curing Playing Related Disorders" by Feuchtwanger who was apparently a fantastic player and teacher in Germany. I have this too and took lessons with Andrew for three months and while Andrew is wonderful, I'm not yet convinced that exercises can cure injuries since as long as you digress back into old habits even momentarily you'll reinforce the injury but I could be wrong, I honestly don't know and I'll tell you something else, THE DOCTORS DON'T KNOW! After extensive research, NUMEROUS doctors and various treatments including acupuncture, fagetabout it, ad infinitum, I've come to the conclusion that NOBODY really knows and in fact that I know more about injuries than the doctors or teachers. I finally got a good neurologist after seeing four of them who told me that doctors don't know as much as they'd like you to believe. They get paid big bucks for multiple, MULTIPLE visits.
I'm still pretty badly injured and maybe I always will be but I'm being patient. I might just have to play simple music without a lot of notes.
I think you're going to have to find your own path. Start with Genia's class, for twelve bucks you can't go wrong so why not try it. I'm doing a little of all but after two years I'm thinking the problem may be in my neck so I'd be looking at surgery. A number of folks on here have suggested to stop playing for a while which I did a few times, once for seven weeks but one member said that his injuries went away after resting for six months so maybe I didn't rest long enough.
There's a trove of literature on piano injuries and it's an industry within itself. Please feel free to private message me, I have a trove of information. Be well, be safe, B
Brian, I looked back and in a post a few months ago you were having major problems with pain and such. If this is helping you, it's fantastic good news. I see in your old post that you already looked into Feldenkrais. I've just started looking at that.
Thank you for the heads up about this course. Have you just started it?
