This software update files and accompanying update instructions can be downloaded from the CA79/CA99 and NV10S/NV5S product pages or software updates page of the Kawai Global website, accessible via the following URLs:

https://www.kawai-global.com/product/ca99/#support
https://www.kawai-global.com/product/ca79/#support
https://www.kawai-global.com/product/nv10s/#support
https://www.kawai-global.com/product/nv5s/#support
https://www.kawai-global.com/support/updates

To check the versions of the software currently used by your instrument, please follow the procedures explained in the update instructions PDFs.

Please do not attempt to apply these software updates to the CA98/CA78, NV10/NV5, or ATX3/AURES instruments. They will not work.

As always, Kawai software updates are cumulative, meaning that the latest update will include the fixes and improvements provided with all previous versions. It is recommended to update the touch screen software first, and then the system firmware, however the order in which the updates are applied should not affect the outcome.

That's all for now - please feel free to post your feedback in this thread.

Kind regards,
James

Worked fine for me. About 10 min for both. Note that USB key should be inserted in a different location for the second update. Instructions are very clear.

It was strange that the USB drive had to be inserted in different locations for the UI and the system update. But it works and makes the UI much better. The system update fixed some weird distorted, metallic sounds I was getting in the middle octaves. I had a very old firmware version (1.04).

Yes, this is because the piano essentially has two separate main PCBs: one for the sound engine, and one for the touchscreen, both running their own software.

That's good to hear!

For those who have not noticed yet, the PianoRemote is available on the Appstore for download. Just did it on my iPad, works well on Bluetooth.

It also worked fine for me but it took me only 10 seconds for the UI update and less than a minute for the system.
No more "Engligh" language :-)

I didn't know about the PianoRemote app. It goes quite well. Thanks!!

The PianoRemote is WAY faster on an iPhone or iPad than the one installed on the piano. Very fluid. My new preferred interface with the piano. Did not notice any difference from the UI Logic on the piano.

The pianoremote-app works fine on my iPhone 7. However not on my ipad Air 3rd gen. it doesn't let me swipe swipe on the main page. I can't swipe from the SK-EX to other pianos.

The swipe works well on my iPad Air (not sure which version). I can switch to SK 5 and back for example.

Killed and restarted the app several times.
The problem was resolved after I restarted the iPad.

Has the new update made it possible to completely (along with the backlight) turn off the screen?

I've actually just downloaded the Android version, and it's working fine. The only thing - for some reason the USER sounds category isn't showing on the remote app?

I just looked on your link Amy and it had listed CA9900GP. Hmm does that mean Kawai is making a grand piano too?

All these years playing and I still consider myself a novice.

Hi,
has anyone done any testing to update the CA98 to CA99 v1.0.4 firmware?
Last week, I have sent a message to the support to know if they prepare a new firmware (latest is v1.0.2)...
Sometimes, my CA98 is blocked if I want to store my music to the USB stick --> all the touches are disabled after. I have tried to reset/upgrade to v1.0.2 without any result.
I read, that problem appears for several customer.

It's a model for the Japanese market. And no, it does not have a grand piano cabinet (google it for pics).

The CA99 firmware cannot be used with the CA98. Navindra tried it on his NV10 (same firmware as CA98) and almost bricked his piano. Or so he wrote.
