I just tried it - it's a 2 stage operation, but I did 'like' your post!

Ah, I was typing when you were posting. Thank-you for the thank-you.
Now I'll go away and act more maturely...

Oh oh. Does this mean everyone will be nicer now, you know, trying to get more “Likes”?

Great news.

I think it will be very useful.

Bad idea. It's been tried before and it's just going to cause problems.

An excellent innovation! Though if it doesn't seem ungenerous to say so, it is just a shade irritating to have to click twice for each "like".

I suppose it saves the bother of having to quote a post with no other reply than +1 or thumb underneath.

I believe it turned itself on as a default with the latest upgrade.
If we (as a group) decided we don't like the like I'll look to turn it off.

Although anyone who uses Facebook has likely been using the like for a while anyway :-)

I don't use Facebook, so I don't "like" anything, and I don't like the choice of liking a post or a thread; so like that, if you will! Is this another step toward PW becoming another social media site?

Upon reflection--it's still a bad idea. In the past, it caused bad feelings and this time will be no different. We're a fairly close knit group here and I don't think popularity should play a part in what gets posted, praised, or, by omission, panned.

In addition, some people will use it as a substitute for posting, and that would be a loss to PW. Even a +1 or thumbs up is volume for the thread, publicly identifies the poster, and gives kudos to the postee.

Well, Stubbie, I'll risk it, just this once thumb!

No offence to anyone but...this forum is probably the most featureless (i.e. dated) forum I know of already. How are we supposed to attract new (read: younger) participants if we are so resistant to new technology? And no, a “like” button is not even new technology. It’s already old technology but at least it’s a move forward!

But I guess people like the status quo. Not necessarily a good thing for “growth”.

Rant over. Have a good day. And I really hope I haven’t offended anyone. And I hope I don’t get deleted. Just my honest opinion.

I can live with or without it but that said, I don’t see it. Only the face book related one at the bottom near the reply box and I don’t have FB. I like you all anyway.

Yes, but it’s improved. You can Share or Like (the entire thread?) on Facebook, and Tweet. Why would we want to do that?
