Well, it happened. Somebody actually asked for the EBVT, somebody out of my area, somebody who had experienced it before and just couldn't get that special sound out of their head. My long term friend, Nick Mauel, pianist, piano technician and piano dealer tuned one of his pianos in the EBVT. He sent several examples that he posted on You Tube:

Hi Bill,
I revisited the EBVT again when a previous customer reminded me he had preferred it over ET when I demonstrated it to him some years ago.

Vibavi You need to look at the Carey Beebe site under Technical Library . He describes several Historical Tunings in good detail . I used his Kirnberger III tuning
Kirnberger lived in J S Bach`s house for a few years so must have known a little about tuning keyboards . Bach was his tutor .
I have an electronic tuner and used that for the Kirnberger as well , but Carey Beebe `s method was more vivid . But the electronic tuner is much quicker . I only use the box for the central octave , by the way .All the rest is done by ear .
Beebe`s main area is Harpsichords and it`s a shame people here seem unfamiliar with his great work .

Hi Bill,
Glad to see you here! For what it's worth, last time I had my Schimmel grand professionally tuned, I had to call around before I found a single technician in Omaha who was willing to give a non-ET a try. I found a tech who dialed your EBVT numbers into his ETD and it turned out great. He liked it a lot and was planning to try it on some of the university pianos he tunes. It's been a year and I still very much like the character of this temperament and hope that the tech can help spread the word in my town that there are alternatives to ET.
