Does anyone have experience with this VST? I love the Baldwin sound of Dave Brubeck and George Shearing's Baldwins. The sample sounds pretty realistic. Maybe someone knows of a better Baldwin sample. This is a 5' 4" piano. I think the 6' would be preferable.

Never heard of the 1954 Baldwin Parlor Grand. Of course Craig Richards owns this and has some observations below. The company link has soundcloud audio recordings. Free demo is available:

The 1988 "Connelly Chapel" Baldwin Grand is in production but not yet for sale

yes, I have the demo. I thought someone might know how it plays. I'll try it. It's only $79. I was thinking of getting the Steinway-B in PTQ instead. But so far I'm not thrilled with the (hollow?) sound from PTQ.

The website says you could just download the demo and see how it plays for yourself.

Yes, there is demo, fortunately, very realistic Baldwin sound and good playability. No problems of any kind that is important to indicate. Good job from that man who made it. I like it.

I bought it. I really like the UVI Workstation. Easy to understand and adjust. Very cool.

Had to chime in here - this is Dan McKinney, the creator of the '54 Baldwin. If anyone's got any questions, please feel free to ask!

Guys, I just got back from a luncheon meeting. Well, I played it for a few minutes and I like it a lot! You have to like a Baldwin. It doesn't sound like a Yamaha CFX.

There are some loud notes in the middle register, like F3 and B4. Dan, maybe you can help. I do still need to read the manual though.

I’ve been playing this parlor grand library for quite some time now. It’s a wonderful instrument with that sweet “Baldwin” sound. As for support, Dan McKinney‘s one of the greatest devs I know.

I tried the demo... UVI Wokstation 2.5.x refuse to open it, and UVI Workstation 3.0.11 crash on every virtual instrument. I have open a issue on the UVI site.

Then I can’t have an idea of this Baldwin.

Sorry to hear you're having a problem loading the demo, Frédéric! I've got WS 3.08 on a 64 bit Windows 10 machine, and it opens up right away. What kind of system do you have?

edit - just downloaded and installed 3.11 - again it's loading fine here.

My problem is not specific with the Baldwin Parlor Grand : UVI Workstation 3.0.11 crash when trying to open any UFS file... and even when trying to open the C: drive.

However, UVI Workstation 2.5.x doesn’t load the Balwin, saying the file is invalid. (It works fine with other files). This is why I have tried the upgrade.

Wow this is really nice! Definitely will consider picking it up. I saw him messing with the sustain resonance knob towards the end, is that just pedal resonance or does it also affect damper resonance?
It seems like the "Strings" reverb is almost like a secondary pedal/sustain resonance?

I didnt see any velocity adjustments available in the interface, just want to make sure I didnt miss it.

Whole Sounds VIs (both 1954 and in-the-works 1988) do not support half pedaling or repedaling, but Dan promised to include both starting with the next release of 1954 by resampling the same piano.

Dan reads this sometimes and may answer. But I suggest you go to the Whole Sounds website. He has a chat button and is really quick to respond.
