Until recently the Bulgarian composer, Pancho Vladigerov was unknown to me, but recently I found some of his pieces on YouTube that really amazed be. He wrote several piano concerts, orchestral pieces and also some music for solo piano. Unfortunately I haven't found anything within range for my technical abilities, but I recommend listening to some of his music. For pianists his Op.15 may be a good place to start. Op 47 is a great orchestral piece and his piano concerts are great.

Obviously Vladigerov is a neglected composer. Unjust in my opinion. It's a pity that his piano pieces are so difficult. If I find a piece within my range I'm definitely going to try to learn it.

I've heard quite a lot of him over the years on radio (BBC Radio 3's Through The Night program broadcasts music by many obscure composers from Eastern Europe, Scandinavia and other sources: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000c4p7 - try Hannikainen's romantic Piano Concerto starting at 2:00:00).

Part of the problem is that many of these composers' music is still under copyright and difficult to source (though in many cases, recordings of their music are easily available on CD/download), so even if you want to play it, you'll have trouble finding the scores, and they're expensive if you do find them.

Have you looked at his slow pieces, like this Elegie?

I have listened to the Autumn elegie, and think it is a wonderful composition. The question is if I can play it.

Have you found a published version of the Elegie?
