Dear Brian,

I don't believe you are actually travelling the USA. I have examined the expression on your face in each and every photo that you have posted and I noticed that they are all the same.

That leads me to one undeniable conclusion. You are actually mailing a lifesize cardboard picture of yourself to all of these different places and having people pose with this cardboard effigy in an elaborate and diabolical ruse. What purpose this twisted scheme serves I could never know, but one thing is for sure....

Oh wait... you changed clothes.

nevermind.

he apparently knows how to work the computer...

We're getting together with some of Rich's guys and Brendan and RKVS1 tentatively Wednesday.

I found out Arturo Passaro was living CLOSE to me and owned the 9 foot Estonia (one of the very few in KC) I was trying to test when I deciding whether or not to purchase one. So close.... I could have met him.. Now he's somewhere else.

But he commented on a few pianos he hadn't seen before.

Favourably, by the way....... wink

The plot thickens.

P.S. If you make it ever to Canada, we have famous cookies here..... laugh

[plus perhaps a few more pianos! wink ]

Arturo Passaro lives in Kansas City?? I played the piano for him when I was 10, we had a private lesson together. I have his signature on my 'first lessons in Bach' music book. How cool is that? smile

I figured he lived somewhere big, like NY or LA or something.

I wake up every morning wanting to both change the world, and have one heck of a good time. This makes planning the day a little difficult.

Reminds me of home! No wait, I moved away from KC for a good reason but did live in the O.P. area for some thirty years. Shawnee Mission, where the girl whos hand I requested declined. It was marry or move! After five years - no regrets! And I have a great teacher here who has taken me farther in one year than seven in K.C. Could it be the climate? Is it hot and humid there yet?

It looks like you're set for an exciting week, Apple.

I hope the PTG holds a convention in Albuquerque again one of these years. It would be fun to meet some of the forum members.

Brian-- you are really making the most of your visit. And what a place PW is that you have made so many friendly contacts around the country.

Frank -- says a lot about this place.

Brian -- hope you are keeping a diary or notes to write up your observations of your trip.

Hi Terry!
(I look so relieved because after the first 4 or 5 pictures had to be canned because Apple kept giving my the ole Victory sign Devil Horns, she agreed to "cut it out already" ) laugh

I was happy to meet Brian, who seemed, [harumph]RICH[/harumph] very lifelike indeed. He won the brautwurst eating contest at Apple's with several lengths to spare. I'd post a link to the award ceremonies, but he ate it by mistake during his follow-though.

I myself only entered the brownie demolition event, and by pacing myself over the evening ... and hiding the pan of brownies.... I believe I emerged victorious in that somewhat more limited venue. One of Kim's sisters (there were about 13 of his 5 sisters there, I think  )won the combined grape-eating/bawdiness in general open.

Rich's boys finked out on us and stayed back at the hotel. Just left more food for us, though. smile

Worthington, my son had a private lesson with Arturo when he was about 12 or 13, would have been 1993 or so. He won in his age group at a competition at KU and the prize was the master class, or lesson.... I'm not sure what term they actually used. The lesson was given in a large room in the back of a local music store rather than on campus, and the room had a big blue fresco (wallpaper probably) of the starry sky or something.

Passaro's step father taught at KU for a time and that's how he ended up in the Midwest. I believe he's based in London now, or at least he WAS based in London several years ago. I think Apple's post was in the past tense, but I don't know for sure.

Well it was fun, and I enjoyed meeting a lot of Kim's family as well.

Well, it was nice to meet Brian at the annual PTG convention. I can vouch for his actually being here in the flesh - no cardboard cutouts!
