To be frank, while the bottom half of the kawai GFC action is frighteningly realistic for how much the ca48 is, the top half of the keys are mushy and frustrating. The bass notes are listed as having counterweights whereas the treble notes do not.

Has anybodoy looked into inserting counterweights on the keys that do not have any? What sort of weight would be consistently a bit less with the ones in low notes, 0.5 - 1 g?

Will kawai make a gfc2 that costs 100 bucks more so that my treble keys aren't a swamp of slushy slowness!

Please accept my apologies for not welcoming you to the forum earlier, for you see, I’ve been volunteering at my local church, helping the poor, and spreading the seed of compassion wherever I go.

So, on behalf of this loving, compassionate, and caring community, I officially welcome you to the world of piano.

I don’t know if Kawai will be making a GFC2 ‘that costs 100 bucks more’, but sit tight and wait a bit; one of our friendly attendants will be with you shortly.

Do you know which keys don't have counterweights?

From examining the GF1 action in my MP11, which also has "counterweights in the bass keys" it turns out that there are 87 keys with counterweights! The key without a counterweight: C8. Why only one key without? The cynics may say it's just so they could release the GF2 and then claim "88-key counterweights!!" But in reality I think it's because the C8 key is already wider than the other keys, thus heavier. Also....

If you look at the counterweights, they're not lead slugs like your might see on an acoustic. Instead, the counterweights on GF1 are simply Phillips-head machine screws. I honestly don't know how much effect they have on the action.

But if you take apart the GFC, definitely post some pictures, it would be nice to see the differences with the GF1/2!

Wow, I didn't know that 1g counterweights can make such a huge difference.
