At the music library of my university, I got “Experience Music!” Which comes with a DVD and two CDs. It’s all music analysis and it seems to be pretty beginner level, although I haven’t done any in depth reading yet. I’m just so lucky to work a few buildings away from this awesome library! I had actually gone in to see if they have any theory books but this one looks much more interesting.

That's cool!

I would love to learn more music theory, and dvd/cd augmented teaching sounds great.

My last effort consisted of researching which text my local univ used so I could buy it and self-learn. Unfortunately, the book was about $175, so I had to pass.

Please report back about how you like the program.

Once you have finished, please give us a recap on the book.

Hi Sara Elizabeth, that sounds very interesting! Is it this book?

Playing the piano is learning to create, playfully and deeply seriously, our own music in the world.

I use talk to text a lot and sometimes I’m surprised at the stupid things it has me say. New were = newer, obviously. smile
My version has a second author, Robert Hickok, and is copyright 2007.
