[quote=backto_study_piano]Thanks - that certainly reminds me of the sound I recall from the Mistral here - 7-10 years ago. It was a very clear sound - quite unlike that first YouTube above. I quite liked the piano after it had been well prepared.[/quote
The tone in the first video was beautiful and warm !
There was nothing wrong with the piano played in Prague
Those musicians are far more qualified than most on this forum to judge.
The 2nd video showed a full concert piano no doubt.
The piano looked BRAND NEW as though it just arrived
from some fancy piano dealer. Also the piece being played is completely different but yes there still are similarities of tone..
How many Petrof concert grands did you ever play?
I have been to Prague and attended concerts there and
it is a place steeped in musical culture.
Did you know that one of Australia's really wonderful
concert pianists has a Petrof concert grand ?

That concert grand sounds amazing.

When you play, never mind who listens to you. R.Schumann.

is this the same situation as Schimmel ? cuz people all knows the "perfect" piano would those xxxxxxxxxx but never talk about the Schimmel or Petrof . without Schimmel or Petrof the "perfect" pinao would be meaningless, no compare , then how to define the "perfect" ? Schimmel K and ANT Petrof really not "perfect" for us ? are we perfect ?

Yes I am sure you are correct.I have tried the Sauter Peter Maly semi concert grand (the Ambiante ) and I believe even this one would be fine playing a concerto against an orchestra.Of course it depends what concerto (possibly a Chopin ,a Mozart or early Beethoven)and how the piano is prepped.
Do you or anyone know of the Fricke concert piano that
the OP was talking about ?It was used instead of a Bechstein piano.
