Thinking of getting this all for my iphone 7, but not sure it will work with my Kawai CS10, or possibly Kawai ES8. If it does work, how do you prevent battery burn-out on the phone? I would imagine a lot of playing would run it down pretty fast.

Thanks!

The Apple USB3 Lightning to Camera (...midi) adaptor allows connection and charging at the same time.

EDIT: Just realised I have iPhone 6 and this works for me - but won't work for iPhone 7 (having no separate headphone jack).
You need something with audio out as well. There must be something available....?

Looks like there are adapters out there, maybe. But the investment is growing long in the tooth without any certainty that it will work. Hmmm.
What piano are you using?

My midi keyboard is a Korg Pa3x and with the above mentioned Apple USB3 adaptor I can play various apps I have including Ravenscroft, Korg Module and Colossus Piano direct via headphone out. Because I've also got a Steinberg UR22 Mk2 I can also play them without using the headphone jack on either my iPhone 6s or iPad Air 2 (I use the digital to analogue audio provided by the Steinberg) so it is possible with this setup to have both an iOS device constantly being charged and audio line outs and/or headphones from the Steinberg for the sound.

Just to clarify my previous post. I found I had to include a powered hub in the setup sometimes (eg when using a small unpowered midi keyboard).

Thank you. Sounds reasonable...but my iphone 7 doesn't have a headphone jack. Although I don't know why that matters, it seems to. I can plug in the piano, and it recognizes that midi is connected , but there is no piano sound and the piano keys on the iphone don't activate when pressed on the piano. I have "local sound" turned off on the piano.

Pianoteq works from on my computer with line in connected. If I bought a device with a headphone jack for the phone, what difference would it make?

Harpsichords, any keyboard with USB connectivity works with iOS. If no answer here and you still want to make it work try the audiob.us forum. It is devoted solely to iOS info and questions.

Oh, this is ridiculous!! We simply did not activate the connection by pressing the button on the iphone!! I was also turning "local control" off on the piano, because that is what I have to do to use Pianoteq with my computer. So....the headphone piece...is just in case I want to use headphones? I am getting the Ravenscroft sound on the piano.

Harpsichorder, it is always the way with computer stuff. Too many buttons! Have fun. I love RC275, and you might also try Korg Module with its inapp Steinway model D (they have frequent half price sales) and for a selection of great iOS pianos you can download the Colossus app and demo a dozen more. The red grand is very good. The Brown uses 13gb and costs $50. Probably the most sampled piano on iOS. Many also favor the free Salamander, but you will need a host for it. The bs16i (is an inexpensive app that will host it and many other free soubdfonts). Best,
Mike

Thanks for all that info. As far as my problem with this app, I made 2 mistakes. Did not know I was supposed to actually check off the midi connection on my iphone, and I turned off the native sound on my piano , which I have to do to use Pianoteq. I've fixed that, so I will do some more exploring with tweaking the sound quality now that I can play Ravenscroft through my piano speakers.

Update: I got this to work with an older pod that has a headphone jack. On my iphone , with no headphone jack, I thought it was working, but actually, I was hearing both the native piano sound AND the Ravenscroft sound.... coming out of the phone. Interesting combination, but not the answer.

Now that I REALLY have this working, I do like the sound, but I am not so sure it is superior to some of the sounds native to the CS10, such as mellow grand. The Ravenscroft pedal function is a little funky. And because of short cords, there is a pile of stuff , including the ipod, on the floor.

Well, you just can't please some people! laugh. It's been an interesting journey. I will continue to experiment. Haven't tried this with the ES8 yet.

Thank you, everyone, you have been so kind and helpful!
