I'm searching late pessimistic liszt pieces like Funeral Prelude and Funeral March can anyone put those kind of pieces here I think this is mind blowing shocked

some very sad pieces by Liszt in his later years could be found in the 3rd year of the Années de Pélérinage f.i. ‘Au cyprés de la Villa d’Este’, Thrénodie I and esp. II, Tristan harmonies, no singable melodies, the works. My favourite sad late Liszt piece is: ‘La lugubre gondola’, no explanation requiered...

Nuages gris, Frage und Antwork, Elegie Nro. 2.... there are plenty.

It is hard to imagine his state of mind when writing these pieces.

I think his state of mind was sorrow over the loss of many friends, illness, and the loss of his son (which he never really recovered from). Still, the great man produced unique works of art. Schubert also, on his deathbed, produced Die Taubenpost - one of my favorites. How many of us could do such a thing? What can you say about the power of music ?
