It's one of these light-up keyboards that "teaches" you how to play a song by illuminating the key(s) you are supposed to press. When you press it, the next key is lit up, and so on. Each key "waits" for you to press it before the song proceeds to the next key/note.

So the chicken was simply trained to pick at whatever key was lit.

That's about how fast I play. I don't howl between notes, though.
