Well, I don't recognize the guy in BDB's original picture, but, yes, that was the picture I was referring to where I first saw a pic of BDB...

However, you can rest assured the older gentleman in the picture handing BDB a check for tuning his piano, is a very well known artist/pianist.

Being a country boy from west central Ga. and not well versed in the world of well-known pianists/artists, (except Jerry Lee Lewis, Ray Charles, and Stevie Wonder, and a few others grin ) I don't recognize the gentleman in the picture.

Maybe BDB will enlighten us... smile

Actually, he was not handing me a check. We were just shaking hands.

Oh, really? Sorry. Was I really wrong in thinking the distinguished gentleman sitting on the couch was Rich?

Looks a lot like Dave Brubeck. There was some great footage of him in a BBC documentary I watched last week—"1959: The Year That Changed Jazz."

It's available here: https://vimeo.com/149802877

Well, if that's what you were thinking, then I'm wrong too...

I was thinking that the "Rich" in the chair is Dave Brubeck, and that the standing "Rich" must be BDB. wink

Sorry, BDB, that looked like a paper check you were holding in your left hand in the picture. Guess I was wrong about that.

Here is the scene I pictured from the picture... you tuned Dave Brubeck's piano, he really liked your tuning, and handed you a check, and then you two shook hands.

Hey, sounds feasible to me... smile

Dave Brubeck lived in Oakland before I started tuning pianos, so he would not have paid me, as it was not his piano.

I had dinner with him a few years before and we had a nice chat, mostly about Darius Milhaud, so I let other people talk to him, while I chatted with Iola. She is also very charming.

I think it looks like you're helping him up out of that chair.

Sadly, Dave Brubeck passed away on Dec 5th. He was 91. RIP, Mr Brubeck - you are a legend.
