Is that a model railroad on a $50k piano as a platform? I hope that makes them happy.

Well, it is actually a $6K (for me) piano, and it makes me happy.

I found it on the Pennysaver! The poor woman bought it brand new, but then realized that she was not cut out for piano playing. She bought a new house that was too small for the piano, and she wanted to get rid of it. Luckily, I was the first one to see the ad!

Some great bargains can be had on occasion. You have to be somewhat knowledgeable about piano values to know a bargain when you see one, and be prepared to act quickly.

As ChatNoir said, most bargain pianos are the result of a mandated quick sale on the part of the seller.

I feel that I acquired all three of my current grand pianos at a bargain price, but choose not to reveal those prices on an internet forum. I learned my lesson about posting the price paid on the internet, and then trying to sell for a little more than you paid. smile

It appears that some people think one is a crook if they want to sell a piano for more than they paid; especially if you are not a piano dealer. smile

Have no worries, I was offered twice as much from a dealer even after I disclosed my purchasing price. But my lovely Estonia is not for sale, we are in this together until a small apartment in old age do us part.

Interesting...

Actually, I think dealers get most of the bargains when desperate sellers are ready to take whatever the dealer offers; which is usually well below wholesale or less. You can't blame the dealers though, because they are individuals in business to make a profit.

Like you, I'm not ready to sell any of my pianos just yet, though I would have to get more than I paid, just because. smile

I do plan on giving one of my grands to my 12 year old granddaughter who is taking piano lessons. Whenever she comes for a visit, she spends most of her time playing my pianos! She likes boogie-woogie too, but her piano teacher doesn't want her to play anything without reading the notes. I guess that counts me out as a student. smile

Enjoy your piano, and the Christmas decorations!! (A double Joy to the World! smile )

Yours is a lovely Christmas decoration!

The only think nicer to see perhaps would be the piano itself...

I have a question then....how were you able to build that on your piano without fear of scratching it? Did you put felt down first or something? Or build it on top of the piano cover?

Also, I really like the Persian rug underneath your piano. Nice one.

First, a thick blanket goes down on the top, covering everything. Then an old duvet cover goes on top of the blanket. Then comes the mirror, the 'snow' and all the other things. The lights are on the top of the duvet cover and under the 'snow' and makes a great effect at night.

Thanks for the comment about the rug, but it is actually Chinese and is there to cover up a multitude of sins in the floor.....

Actually, it plays very well with all the deco on top, just a little muffled since I cannot open the front lid. But some people say that my playing sounds much better when it's a bit muffled! So many meanies in this world. (sigh.....!)
