Hello and thank you for your advice here. It appears that the Yamaha EZ200 is inferior to the P70 because it has only 61 keys, is about a third of the weight, and the keys are not weighted. A student of mine currently has the EZ200 and she can't afford a good acoustic piano at this time, but the student needs a better instrument (she is a beginner, taking lessons on an acoustic piano). A friend of mine is selling his P70. Wondering if it would be a good enough upgrade for my student to purchase the P70. Thank you.

The P70 keyboard will be far better than the EZ200 if she want to practice piano. An hammer action key can't compare to a synth keyboard.

However, with a second hand instrument, you have to be carefull... Test each key and the headphones plug. I had some old synthesizers : one whose the headphone plug is too noisy, and an other whose the keyboard doesn't repond envenly... Unusable!
