Sort of off topic, but about moving to new countries: I could totally see myself living in Taiwan or South Korea one day.

Why those two countries?

Probably because he just visited them.

Nikolas, I think *we* on PW all have liked that you live in Greece more than *you* have liked it. A piano teacher in England is less exotic to us in N. America than a piano teacher in Greece. We will simply have to adjust, and rule out any visit to Greece to see you.

So glad you have options, and all best wishes on this enormous upheaval!

Well put. smile

I've loved it. But these days I'm sure it's easier to love the fact of it, than it

I don't originate from these shores, so I can say that until about 20 years ago, all you could get in the UK was tasteless Shepherd's Pie, Irish stews, fish n' chips, extra-well-done steaks that tasted of rubber etc. Or else go to a curry house and get "chicken tikka masala" (which is unknown in India, totally concocted by Indian chefs in the UK for British tastes.... grin).

Now, we have several Michelin-starred restaurants (including Heston Blumenthal's "molecular gastronomy" - crab ice cream, anyone?), lots of sushi places (like Nobu), Mongolian, Lebanese, Nepalese, Morrocan, South African (raw ostrich, impala etc).....as well as good ol' Chinese, Indian, Italian, Spanish etc cuisine.

Oh, and Burger King, KFC, McD's...... wink

All the best to you Nikolas.

I was reading tea leaves today and it says that you will be invited to play at the BBC Proms next year.

Also please send my regards to my cousin William and his wife Kate and their children George and Charlotte.

A cellist friend just got back from Greece herself (her family is half Greek, half French but she identifies strongly with her Greek side) and brought me a lovely olive wood bracelet. But she herself resides in France, and is here in the United States for a three year professional stint.

Let's put it this way: you were the only Greek person I knew who was living in Greece.

You'll enjoy your vacations there. It's a lovely country. wink Just make sure that after a while in the UK you don't forget how to be a defensive pedestrian in Greece. I have never been almost killed by a car as much as I was while in Greece.

Oh, it was amazing and beautiful (and remarkably clean), but I would melt/burn in the hot weather and humidity, haha... The concert hall we sang in there was astounding, at the School of the Arts. I also got to see my friend that I hadn't seen in 5+ years again, and found Cold Stone Creamery at the mall!

Oh man, I finally checked into this forum and noticed this! Nikolas, I pray God's blessings on your move to the UK and on your wife and children as well. I very much enjoyed meeting you here in Texas about a year or so ago, and I really enjoy the Beauty & Hope project (music and scores). Please let me know if you ever get to Texas again; I'd love to meet up!

Best regards,
Chris

Everyone: Thank you.

Chris: Much obliged and it was great meeting you as well! I do hope that I'll revisit Texas somehow and we'll get to eat some Tex-Mex together! ^_^

Nikolas, I somehow missed this!

Wow, big decision, but it has been on your mind for quite a while now, hasn't it.

I know what it is like to make an international move - and you're organizing it on your own with the kids! ack! Best wishes that everything goes smoothly and you and the lad settle in quickly - and that your wife joins you ASAP!

Keep us posted when you can!

hem... the kids will be with the mom. I'll be all alone in the UK, preparing as best as I can, so that they can join me next year, or the year after... smile

Other than that huge thanks Cheryl! smile
