Hello and thanks for taking the time to read this question. I was planning on buying a Casio CDP-120/130 to use as a midi controller working in unison with my already bought Akai MPD32, which both are connected to my DAW. I'm planning on using both to create more and better sounding mixes. Would this choice in gear be recommended or are there better options.

If you need a piano-type action and a long keyboard (88 keys), it's a good choice for the price. If you need a controller keyboard or a synth/workstation there are probably better choices, both above and below the price of a CDP120.

Can you list choices that are more preferable?

Well the Akai MPD32 provides plenty of pads, knobs, and faders as well as DAW transport controls... most of that would be duplicated on DAW-controller keyboards.

Where you at?

In Europe, the Studiologic/Fatar SL-990 is a good option. It's just a controller with fine key action in its price range, but it's a lot more expensive if you're like say, in the US.

Are there pianos like the Studiologic SL-990 with a lower price tag because I live in Canada and the price of the piano is out of my budget and the only thing I would like to have on the Casio CDP 120 is some way to control the pitch bend and mod which the SL-990 has
