Thanks, I was pretty pleased. They also sold me a very slightly used Kawai ES Bag for $200, which fits it perfectly, and makes it much easier to move around. I'm currently enjoying it in my hotel room on a 2-week business trip in NM. Now I don't have to go half a month without a piano—yay! And it will be great for sing-along sessions at a family reunion at a mountain cabin in June.

Long and McQuade had a once a year "blowout" sale of used equipment(avg P-35 for $349CAD). I went to get a feel as I'm new to the DP scene. Unfortunately they don't stock any Kawai or Casio, and there was nothing nowhere near me that did.

For my price range(500CAD...which is mind you 400USD right now because our dollar sucks) I was limited to the P-35(same action as p105). Its action was alright, but it felt a little shaky to me.

Once I got a feel of the P-255(155 action equivalent) I definitely noticed a difference even as a novice, but it was out of my range. It just felt more solid. Took a gamble and got the Casio; ships in next week. Hope it was the right choice and is similar to the p-155 in key action :X

I am eagerly waiting, digital the piano is going to be delivered on Wednesday or Thursday.

You might remember from other forum topics that I was originally considering 2 other models from different manufacturers.
When trying out digital pianos I just loved Kawai tones!
Big differences in local warranty terms were also behind my decision. I am quite picky when it is about peace of mind for something I would like to use often on long-term.
I learnt that the cabinet size/shape makes a big difference (at least for me). I did not expect that I will experience such a big difference before trying out).

In the next 1-2 years I don't think I need anything more than this one -- hence I am happy not to stretch my budget to the limits -- the special offer on the free bench+headphones+lamp helped to make the final decision (in Hungary the bundles/sets are usually not available unfortunately. some handlers offer DP+bench or DP+headphones -- anything beyond that is extraordinary on the market).
I had promising talks about a possible upgrade option in about 2 years.

Hey all,

I got my MP11 in February, and I absolutely love it. I'm an amateur/enthusiast, and this is my first 88-note weighted controller. I play every day now, and it's great having a no-compromises/no-excuses instrument. If a passage doesn't come out right, I know it's *not* the board, and therefore it's something I can practice and correct in my technique.

The onboard sounds are decent, but it's all about the action... I pair it up with the Ivory II Uprights and it's just amazing. I'd like to get the Ivory II Grands later in the year.

I bought it sight unseen from Evola Music as a special order, but I had played a CA65 home piano prior, and I was quite sure I'd like the equivalent action in the MP11. Needless to say I wasn't disappointed. The folks at Evola are great, and they are a big Kawai dealer.

I find myself using a lot of features that I never thought I would, and it's a great board to practice with. Even if I only have 20 minutes, I can throw on a pair of cans, plug my iPhone or iPad into the inputs, and work on some exercises or transcriptions.

Other than portability (70 lbs.+), I would highly recommend the MP11 to anyone.

I am very happy with Tim Praskins service. I got an excellent price on this Piano. It does indeed have ample Sound and Speakers. Contrary to popular belief, Tim Praskins also sells Roland & Kawai and he has good prices on those too.

The concert hall is very nice (it makes the piano echo like a cathedral or hall), the ivory-like keys are interesting and as I said before the speakers are quite loud. The lid system is interesting as well, but it is basically a lid on the speakers so I plan to leave it open to get the maximum sound out.

The furniture stand is well made, but I couldn't help thinking IKEA while putting it together. It is very sturdy and cleverly designed but is particle board with a nice finish on the outside.

I did have to take some time to learn the various key sequences to operate the various functions, but once I got the hang of it was easy to switch tones, record etc...

Casio also provides a 3-year warranty on this piano as well.

Overall, an extremely nice Digital Piano for under $1000.

Congrats on your new Casio!

I will add my praise for Tim Praskins. As it turns out I wound up buying a floor model Kawai MP7 from another source, but Tim stood ready to meet my needs at an attractive price point. Beyond this of course his thoughtful reviews provide useful and unbiased insights. Although I'm not a customer at this point in time, I'll definitely keep him in mind for future needs.

SOLD!

My Casio PX 100- for $200-
same as I paid for it about six months ago-
I thought that fair since I put together the built in stand that was apart and n need of some screws

I just wasn't playing it much next to the Baldwin Hamilton studio upright- so the acoustic won my own little comparison.

The Old 76 unweighted key Casio wk-225 is standing back in its place with a million voices.

The Px100 wasn't very loud- and made a lot of key noise as far as I was concerned, but it was a nice littler practice piano, and if I was still in an apartment would've been great.

I did like the STRING voice particularly of the 6 voices- but I figured I'd cash it back in and it sold on Craigslist fairly quickly- so I think the turnover value is good.

My only recorded performance on it

after playing piano for 10 years since Gr 2 to Gr 12,
I spent the last 10+ years without a piano after moving out for college!

Can't wait for it to arrive and start playing again!

Very professional and efficient vendor. Unfortunately received after 6 days instead of 48h due to a very unprofessional and not-customer-friendly-at-all courier (Bartolini). Fortunately they did not damage the piano, though...
