You think your Dad is gone, but he isn't...mine passed away several years ago and I still think of him everyday. My kids have mannerisms similar to some of his, they sometimes turn words the same way. There are little traces of him all around, that take you back in time.

I haven't spoken to you in a long time Rich, but my condolences are with you and your family.
I know this day comes to us all, but I still struggle with the inevitability of it.

Thank you all for the condolences, good thoughts, and prayers. Some of my family members don't understand how I can care for a group of people on the internet, most of whom I have never met before. This thread is just one reason why I love this place.
My head is back above water for the most part. Some of you may know that my father was ill so this was not unexpected, but it doesn't make it less painful to lose him.
The visitations, the funeral, and the rush of this past week is over. All that is left is the empty spot, but I have the huge satisfaction that my father (also Rich Galassini) lived his life well.
He taught me so much about being a son, a father, a man, and a husband. He taught me to respect myself and others as myself. He taught me to love and to allow myself to be loved. You taught me right from wrong - and that sometimes what was right and what was legal are very different things. I am so proud to be his son.
