I just got Roland FP-7F to replace my RD700, after a long debate with myself comparing it to Kawai CA63/CA93. I like CA93 the best for its "play-ability" (the action that I interact with to create the sound that I like). To my ears, even inside the same headphone, CA93 sounds more presence than CA63. But the extra price premium leads me to CA63.

But at last, I decided to pick FP-7F. The key action and sound from FP-7F is good, but to me not as good as CA63. I chose it for versatility in general, especially the Session Player which has a mode to recognize the chords you play across the keyboard and do accompaniment. Now, this is not a full blown arranger keyboard like Yamaha PSR-S700 or Roland BK5. But it is good enough to be very useful for learning chord voicing and playing with a jazz band.

The other thing is my placement of the piano is not inside the living or family room. It is placed in the studio room next to computer for a simple recording stuff. So the nice furniture appeal of a digital piano like CA63 does not pay for it.

Thus said, I really miss the CA63/CA93 action and sounds, and its (unique) ability to play/record MP3. That is such a convenience.

Why didn't you consider Kawai's MP10 as well?

I did consider MP10 for its action and sound. But it does not have enough rhythms. FP-7F "Session" has bass, drum, guitar/keys to accompany piano playing and can recognize the chords I am playing. That is a key feature for my jazz practice on chord and swing feel. MP10 only has a set of drum patterns, similar to CA63.

About the setup, I intended to post a photo picture together with my post, but I didn't know how to attach a picture since I am relatively new. Any hint?

My speakers are a set of old Audix, probably PH15. I need to confirm.
