That will be my built-in excuse for not having my piece ready if that happens to be the case. Pressure is off! laugh

Uploading 101 and the 106 fugue as I write this. My piano was badly out of tune, unfortunately. We had an early and cold winter, and I'm moving in two weeks so I'm not about to tune it..

liszt85, I just listened to it and it sounds terrific! If you don't finish it in two weeks maybe you can submit "excerpts" from the sonata.
Oh...and belated happy birthday!

Hrm. I can't get my Hammerklavier fugue to upload. The movement takes over 16 minutes in my hands because I can't play it any faster, and it's still so damn sloppy. I suppose I should leave it out anyway, it sounds terrible, but this makes me wonder if I'll be able to upload the Adagio..

Jeffrey, the maximum file size you can upload to the site is 25mb. I kinda doubt that your fugue is that large...though of course that depends on the bit rate of your mp3 encoding. If your file size is less than 25mb, then uploading problems could be due to network traffic in which case you should try again a little later.

It's 38 MB. I had everything in 320 kb MP3. If that's the case then I'll have to downgrade the MP3 for the 106 Adagio as well.

It sounds great, so even if you uploaded what you just did I think it would be something to be proud of! Of course, it would be cool to hear the rest of the movement too (my favorite part is next).

I think 160 kb/s or even 128 kb/s will be more than adequate. Do you have a bit rate converter?

My excuse (which happens to be true) is that due to completely unforeseen circumstances beyond my control, my normal practice schedule has been disrupted for the last two weeks and I don't know exactly when I will be able to resume it. So I don't really expect to have anything in shape to upload. Fortunately, the stuff I was working on is all duplicated by others.

So I completely forgot about this lol
I've been working so hard on the Rachmaninoff concerto everyday it's ALL I've been playing.

Luckily a friend recorded me playing the Moonlight for his recording class months ago, so I shall upload that.

And I will endeavour to record the Op. 27 No. 1 if it's not horrendous haha

The e-cital website is accepting submissions for BeethovenFest, the 240th birthday celebration of Ludwig van Beethoven. Recordings will be accepted between now and December 15. The e-cital will go live on December 16th.

Please click on this submission page and follow the instructions given.

Acceptable file format: mp3

If you have a video, upload it to YouTube and insert the url in the space provided on the submission form. Please do not upload the video on the e-cital site.

Be sure to answer the advanced math question on the form! This is a test question to ensure that a sentient being is making the submission (as opposed to a rampaging robot).

Thanks smile. Yes, we are our own worst critics because people are just too nice if you are an amateur pianist, I think. Its the professionals that people get real nasty with and I guess that's part of the quality control that makes them so very good!

The sad part is, I'm still busy with school work (being the quarter end), so I'll probably end up submitting an "excerpt" as jazzyprof suggested and will submit a full movement to a monthly recital or in the members' recording area.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JAZZYPROF.

My son said he submitted his Op. 31 no. 2. I'm guessing he failed to hit the submit button?

My movement is coming along, and hopefully I'll be ready for recording soon. There are always things to work out though, so I'm waiting until the last possible moment to start the recording process (I know that will take some time to get the sound just right). One part that never really sounded the way I wanted is finally worked out, but there are a handful of other sections that need to get to that stage! Hopefully it will happen. smile

I assume that submissions should be single takes like a live concert, correct - as opposed to piecing together of different sections as would be done in a professional recording studio?

I'm still working on Op.14(1) 1st movement, but it seems to be getting worse vs better - I'm losing evenness in what should be light fast sixteenths on the left in one section when I play up to speed. I've been using staccato, various rhythms, alternating hands etc. Partly, it is a problem with anxiety over submitting something not up to par - and I have a live recital tomorrow - which is very difficult for me. I will record it, but may chicken out on the submitting part, after considering the input from my teacher. It's certainly been a worthwhile goal - and the second movement is so beautiful.
