I'm looking at a Kawai GM-2. Any thoughts? I see lots about the GM-10 but almost nothing about the GM-2. I believe it is a predecessor to the GM-10.

I'm told it is a quality piano with a good action.

Is it a better choice for developing technique than an upright such as Kawai K3 or Yamaha U1?

What's a reasonable price?

IMHO, the grand would be a better choice than the uprights.

The recent one is the GM-10K which is made in Indonesia...the preceding ones were made in Japan. There's nothing like a grand piano action in my opinion.

Sorry, I'm no good helping with prices.

If you would like a small, entry level grand then it should be a good choice. Be sure to have a technician check the piano before you take it home.

I find the entry level Kawai grands to be nothing like their bigger brothers, in no way, form or fashion.

The piano was used as a rental. Pro: carefully looked after by a tech before each rental. Con: worn out, uncertain rental history.

I also noticed that the structure holding the pedals was flimsy compared to other grands on the floor. Shims were used to keep the bottom part of the pedal structure tight.

But, the piano sounded very nice and my son thought it played very well (action).

$5,800 + tax + delivery. Reasonable? Any thoughts?

I could probably buy a brand new Kawai K3 for this price with money to spare.

I think I would avoid it and look for a good upright or a used grand of higher quality. Check Craigslist or ebay.

For a few thousand more, you can get into a used RX series. Here's an example.

Don't forget to point out the negative issues to the dealer. Ultimately, you have to go for the piano that your son enjoys to play! Was he just tinkling the keys or did he really PLAY it?

as i know ,there isn't have GM-2 ,just have GE-2 and GM-12
which one did u prefer

the different between GE-20 and GM10

GE20 's length is 5`1",164cm GM10 is 5',150cm

GE20 use millennium III action GM10 use ultra responsive action, that's key

GE20 use NEOTEX & bacteriostatic keys ,GM10 just use bacteriostatic keys not NEOTEX
