Hi all! Anybody know anything about this piano - from the 30's maybe - called a Busch & Gertz Midgette, baby grand, I think? Thanks a bunch! Jodi

The serial is either 73446 or 78446, most likely. Either 1938 or 1942(I doubt the latter, since the numbers in the atlas only go up to 75000).

Thank you! Does the Atlas say anything about the company/quality of pianos it built? That name is not in the Larry Fines list of highly regarded oldies, and I can't seem to find anything else about it. Jodi

They made very high quality uprights and grands until around 1924, after which they were made by Haddorff. The piano you inquire about was made by Haddorff, and is junk.

With some doubts as to the advisability of doing so, I did some rebuilding on a family heirloom Midgette. It is a decent piano, nothing special, afterwards.

So, if someone were to have one that was in immaculate, but original shape, what would a ballpark asking price on this be? She's thinking of asking $800. Thanks so much for your help! Jodi

She should ask for $500. It will cost $300 to move it locally.
