When the 5'7" CW grand came out a couple years ago I played one of the first, if not THE first one to leave the shop. After all the expectation, it was quite rough. I did not like it at all and I love the 190.

Any new experiences with them? Has anyone played one lately? Opinions?

The Walter W175 is 5'9" not 5'7"

I am very happy with the performance of the W175 the tone is very even and the action performs as the 190.

I get comments often from players that it's the best 5'9" piano they have tried. The bass is amazing and the treble sings and sustains.
Perhaps the one you played needed prep.

That being said I find this model hard to retail for one reason only. Price. The Walters priced this piano only $1000.00 apart from it's bigger brother the W190.

The reasoning for such a small price difference is they say it only costs $1000.00 less to build. Good logic for the makers being so honest but a hard sell for the consumers mind.

If you look at all other makers the price difference can be as high as $2,200.00 an inch. whome

So I have found most clients will choose the W190 due to the price not being a major factor in their decision and the 190 has a bit more rumble in the bass.

But all in all the W175 is very sweet and if one had a space limitation it's a great option for an American manufactured high quality instrument.
