I sold my spinet to a the family friend of my daughter who wants to take lessons.

The movers were here, so while they were I asked them to move my grand about a foot more into the room out of the corner. It now has maybe 18"-24" between it and the walls. Teh sound also fdoes not reflect out onto a big window anymore, but to a wall.

It brought back the singing overtones fromn when it was brand new. Sounds GREAT! I would never have imagined that little change in position would be such a big change in sound.

I am not surprised by this. When I sold my grand I decided to move the upright in the same room across to where the grand had been. Previously it must have been in a dead spot. In the more open part of the room the sound is so much better.

I could not agree more. That is exactly why my

piano sits in the center of my music room.

That sure beats having to buy a foot longer piano to get the GREAT sound.

Thank goodness this is about pianos. When I first saw the thread title, all I could think of of was one of those sexual enhancement commercials... wink

I had a similar experience. My grand used to have its long straight side parallel to one wall of the room (only about 8" away). Then I rotated it so the tail is a couple feet away from the wall. Made a noticeable difference in the bass; now there's more!

I too thought this was going to be about a foot 'longer' piano!

Then, I thought you were going to tell us that they charged you not a foot, but an 'arm and a leg' to move it!!!

I need coffee...
