Hi,

My piano stool’s height adjustment mechanism is missing a bracket which supports the seat. I believe the stool is very old but looks, externally and from the top, like a Tozer concert stool. I’ve included a picture below if that would help in identification or would it be a matter of having the item fabricated? Any ideas gratefully accepted - thanks smile

Any decent blacksmith could make you something like that in the twinkling of an eye. Failing that a welder would be able to help, but a forged part would be stronger.

Those are "pillow blocks", (I have no idea where the name comes from). Industrial supply houses, like McMaster-Carr have numerous listings for these, in many dimensional configurations.

Or, it could be replaced by a block of multi-ply pin block material, cut large for strength.
Regards,

Thanks for the replies. It does look like I’ll have to either fabricate the part or have one made but it’s useful to know the name of the thing. The stool came with the piano so it might be very old but I’ve no idea who manufactured it and I doubt they’d still be around now anyway.
