Hello everyone,

Two weeks ago I ask your opinions if you prefer the DGX-660 or CVP-601. Meanwhile, I have decided to go for a more traditional digital piano, so the CLP range it is for me.

My budget allow me to compare two models: CLP-575 (€1950) and the CLP-645 (€2119). Well, if you should choose, which one do you prefer? I know they have both wooden white keys, virtual resonance. But the CPL-575 has , if I am right, a three-way speaker set up. Is this a massive difference for in example the bass tones? I don't want to have a louder piano, but if the three-way speaker has better and richer sounds, then I would obviously prefer the 575. Furthermore, I know the 575 doesn't offer the virtual headphone thing what the 645 has (some virtual 5.1 headphone).

So which one shall you buy? I am looking forward for your opinions!

I have not compared those two in detail. But from my perspective, the jump from two speakers to four is much more significant than from four to six.

So I would most likely choose the newer one.

I tested both of those extensively a couple of weeks ago. Which did I buy? The Kawai CA67. ;-)

If I had buy one of the two Yamahas, however, I would personally buy the 645, but that's mostly because I listen through headphones most of the time (much better than even very expensive speakers), and I'm very sensitive to the spatial illusion, so the virtual surround headphone option (which I also use with software pianos on the PC) is important to me. If it wasn't important, I'd probably go with 575 which felt and sounded somewhat better than the 645 in my subjective opinion. Not a great deal in it, though; far more difference across brands than within. If you haven't tried other brands, definitely do so; you might be pleasantly surprised.

575 has 2 pairs of speakers, however these two pairs are better than the 2 pairs found in 545, besides the key action and pedals found in 575 are better than 545 as well.

645 = 545 + bluetooth +2 more sound samples+ VRM(which 575 also has)+ a few more extras,however the key action and speakers are not upgraded.

If you have to choose between 645 and 575, I would say 575 is the one with better sound output, key action, pedals and lower price.

Hey everybody, Thanks for your Advice. Yesterday I was in the music store and try a lot of different models. The seller made me an incredible offer; a cpl-545 for €1300,-. I said I would think about and I have time untill Wednesday. I know the differents between 645 and 545 (thanks USSOWT). So I personally think the 700 euro extra is not worth it for me for the 575. Dou y agree with me? Clp 545 for €1300 or Clp 575 for €1950?

...although I would rephrase this line as "get the piano that brings you the most musical enjoyment". wink

Additionally, If you can't spot the difference between two pianos and there is a big price gap between them, it is not worth for you to pay more only for "paper specification", which you can read and is told to you by a salesman, but is unrecognizable for you. Be it sound, action or additional functions, do not pay for something you find useless or for you is the same as in the more expensive model.

Usually the more you pay the better the piano, but many people here are experienced pianists and want the best DP money can buy. On the other hand side we have lots of begginers and anything in between, so buy the most suitable instrument for you, and do not pay for something you can't feel or hear.

Maybe it's just me, but I would be wary of "pressure tactics" of just giving you a short time to make your decision.

Hey everybody, I have bought the 545 mahogany. Love the colour! Anyway, why did I choosed the 545 over the 575? The VRM is nice, but it was very hard to notice. I know this is supposed to be, but to pay 500 euro only for something I could barely hear? Also the speaker setup of the 575 isn't better, only louder than the 545.

I am very pleased with my 545. And if I am going to miss the VRM, I can always hook up my laptop with external soundcard to it and play with vst sounds. If I believe this forum, many opinions say that the vst piano sounds (such as Ivory) are superior to the Yamaha build in sounds.

Anyway, I want to thank everybody for their opinion and input. Now I am going to play my brand new DP!
