I like this best of all!

Working through Czerny's first baby beginning steps for classical piano.
Hoping to graduate well within two years of study. Now at #75 of Opus 599 and behind schedule.

I have known of this performance for awhile. It seems to start lots of controversy/debate over this piece but I feel this is the most superb interpretation of it.

I listen to video game themes. Star Wars soundtrack, final fantasy just really games music. They remind me of childhood. I also listen to game of thrones soundtracks also

I'm a cheesy guy so most of the music I hear are ballads. One piece that I'm really into is Michael Nyman's The Departure, from the movie Gattaca. It's such a beautiful movie and the soundtrack is as inspiring as the movie.

I'm not finished listening just yet, but, the first ten minutes have been so beautiful, that I had to pause it so I could share it here. What a wonderful selection for all of us beginners. It is such a joy to stumble upon beautiful music that is within our reach.

Enjoy!

The other day I was looking around YouTube for something or other, and came across this guy, Harry Völker (from Holland)...
checked out some of his videos, and absolutely love how he plays.

This is Meditation, which I've known all my life, but never heard as a piano solo before:

I pray, that tomorrow I may strive to be a little better than I am today - and, on behalf of everybody else, I give thanks for headphones.

Some lesser known more recent composers I am really loving right now, some of this stuff is not all easy listening, but then I love a bit of atonality and musical complexity to listen to, I find it very engaging indeed, for me, it's like good food for the brain .. and we find some athletes of the piano indeed.

Einojuhani Rautavaara

orchestral work that just blows my mind away.

Piano Concerto No. 1 ( with score, I love reading scores while listing at times )

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFIGoB7rK70

Etudes for solo piano, in particular I love the piece named fourths, but they are all great

Thomas Adès

Another genius (current ) composer, his works for strings and piano solo .. amazing stuff

In Seven Days

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2B4KOGyTTk

Traced Overhead

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5G_I-pWR8Q

I saw a life performance of the next piece last month, the pianist stuck it in between some Beethoven and Mozart better known works.

Darkness Visible

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xe1qpj17VzA

Enjoy smile

Shame you need to start at 4 and have Lang Lang silky skills to play some of this stuff. If I could, I'd be all over it playing that stuff grin
